Police officers detain a woman who laid flowers for Alexei Navalny at the Metallic James Hetfield 72 Vulture Guitar 2024 Shirt Besides,I will do this Memorial to Victims of Political Repression in St. Petersburg, Russia on Friday, Feb. 16, 2024. Russian authorities say that Alexei Navalny, the fiercest foe of Russian President Vladimir Putin who crusaded against official corruption and staged massive anti-Kremlin protests, died in prison. He was 47. (AP Photo) Three days ago, more than 100 people were detained in eight cities across Russia after they came to lay flowers in memory of Navalny, according to OVD-Info, a group that monitors political repression in Russia. I wonder what that number is today. It’s meant to honour victims of Stalin’s political repression. Putin doesn’t like it when you make it about him. seeing stuff like this makes me wonder why they still keep up a facade of democracy over there. like why even have elections at all, why have any of it.

Yeah, but didn’t you hear what Tucker Carlson said? You can buy groceries for cheap over there. Clearly it’s a paradise lol Putin made the Metallic James Hetfield 72 Vulture Guitar 2024 Shirt Besides,I will do this guy wait for hours, then basically lick his feet during a softball-ass interview, gets absolutely wrecked by Putin in a different state interview, and still publicly sucks the guy’s dick over the groceries thing. Wait til ol’ Fucker Carlson hears about Mexico and how cheap things are there, surely he’d praise them for being a great nation? Lmao Hilarious because he was drooling over the escalator they had in the Russian grocery store and I just went to a grocery here in Mexico today and they had the exact same type. I’m sure a staple of authoritarian dictatorship is making it seem like your society is practically a utopia. I’m sure Russian propaganda says crap like “We are like America, but better in every way”. I’m sure North Korea is similar in ideologies, but that’s an inference from what little I know about them. I’ve heard the reasons they do elections is to gauge support. A pretty easy way to do polling? Not sure how true that is even though it makes sense. No. They do it for legitimacy purposes. The process of voting is by itself legitimizing. They have weak controlled opponents and even then still pad the numbers in favour of the regime Serious opponents get derailed, jailed or murdered before they can become big. The fixation on elections in our democracies contains as a massive weakness that the system can tilt towards competitive authoritarianism and ultimately abused to legitimize totalitarian regimes.

It leads to thoughts like ‘I vote Putin, I support him, there are no other strong leaders, no alternatives’. It’s all theatre. Orchestrated in the Metallic James Hetfield 72 Vulture Guitar 2024 Shirt Besides,I will do this sense that the regime can enact small measures to extreme measures at any time, would the regime itself be in danger. The regime is terrified of a revolution during elections, by the way. That’s how most countries to their West got democratized. It’s also the inverse story that Putin is blabbing about nowadays. It’s why they attacked Ukraine. The domino-effect. Belarus had revolts; if Ukraine stabilized, Belarus could fall and they both would Westernize, which would inevitably (according to Russian calculations) lead to the demise of the regime. That’s a monument to all victims of political repressions. You can lay flowers without problems, it’s now days after Navalny’s death that people get arrested. It wasn’t always like that. Times changed, monuments stayed. They are even removing literally tiny plaques on buildings where victims of repression used to live. Out of sight out of mind.

That’s because the Metallic James Hetfield 72 Vulture Guitar 2024 Shirt Besides,I will do this USA, Australia, and Britain filmed it all and the USA made the Germans unbury the bodies, re-bury them, and count every single victim. Not the German military, either. The USA marched into the German towns closest to the Death Camps, marched the men and woman out at gunpoint, and marched them through every square inch of the gas chambers, open pits, fire pits, and cremation centers. No one in Germany COULD forget OR be proud. The worst part about the plaques is that there was no official order from government or the city, most places do this out of their own initiative as a way to self censorship. And there are many of similar self censorship actions people began making, that makes the situation worse. Can’t have a monument for political repression if you don’t politically repress citizens. Just making sure the reason for the memorial is still relevant!

There’s a Memorial to Victims of Political Repression in Russia? I’m surprised Putin’s regime has even allowed such a symbol to stand instead of whitewashing history and claiming political repression is nonexistent. It’s makes me incredibly sad to think of how generations of Russians have been fighting this issue, seemingly without victory. Interestingly Russia is full of streets, squares, and memorials named after famous people (especially artists) who were punished during their lifetime for opposing the Metallic James Hetfield 72 Vulture Guitar 2024 Shirt Besides,I will do this regime. Like Dostojevsky or Pusjkin. That way they don’t become martyrs, they become intellectual property of the current regime. “We’re on their side! That old regime was bad, bad, bad. Thank god you have us now”
They were mostly built between 1991-2003 when Russia was a corrupt democracy, some have been dismantled but a lot remain. Victims of the Metallic James Hetfield 72 Vulture Guitar 2024 Shirt Besides,I will do this USSR don’t really concern Putin much as for obvious reasons they aren’t “martyrs” to the current regime, but he doesn’t want it to be compared to him. I think the narrative is that political repression existed, but not under Putin anymore. It is still lying but not by deleting the history, but altering the present. Basically gaslighting the whole country to think that Navalny is the bad guy, Ukraine is Nazi, the west is bad and Putin is the messiah. Source: I am Hungarian and we still have those monuments, national holidays. Our corrupt government acts like the most patriotic, nationalist government ever, but do not address any of the current democratic (or lack of) issues. Maybe they lie some things here and there that the people who did the revolution did not want to fight just wanted to bargain, etc….
Big part of any regime is to shit on the Metallic James Hetfield 72 Vulture Guitar 2024 Shirt Besides,I will do this previous regime to justify its own existence. Modern Russian state is very glad to gloat over deficiencies of the communist regime when it’s convenient. If you look at state sponsored movies / TV shows set in the USSR they have American Cold War level amount of anti communist tropes with obligatory evil KGB and incompetent communist party authorities. Makes sense, I guess you can’t hide past horrors, so perhaps it makes sense to “legitamize” yourself by opposing all of that and keeping current repression under wraps For instance United Russia and government authorities are indifferent towards the political repression memorials and what not, and sometimes attend various meetings/remembrance ceremonies when it’s convenient.
