This sub isn’t just about how much money a job pays. The fact that you don’t realize that is pathetic, but hey, the Messy Bun Breast Cancer Warrior Ribbon Leopard T-Shirt in addition I really love this world revolves around you right? OP doesn’t set your pay scale. If OP was paid less, you wouldn’t be paid any more. Figure out who your real enemy is, and fight them. Where are you applying at where they put an expected salary on the posting? Every one I see doesn’t even list it “I don’t see a reason not to lie about your credentials when all they do is lie about the jobs they post” SPOT ONAt least they’re showing their true colors up front. If this is how they present themselves when trying to acquire you as a new hire, expect even worse treatment as an employee. One question is whether that $90k-$110k is really where the market is in your area. Like if 10 people came in to interview and are looking for $70k-$80k, and then you ask for $110k, it might be a surprise even though that’s what they advertised? Just trying to think of honest mistakes that might have been made causing a misunderstanding. Because of Colorado law, recruiters have to post the real salary range if it’s a job that could hire someone in that state (like a telecommuter). If it’s a large enough company, their compensation team probably did their research and market adjusted the salary for that role. My guess is that the hiring manager has no clue that’s the “new” going rate for that role and is pissed that a new direct report is about to make as much or more money than they are. So maybe not the hiring manager’s fault, but definitely signs of other BS going on.

I had a job kinda do this to me. It was something I had applied to before and the Messy Bun Breast Cancer Warrior Ribbon Leopard T-Shirt in addition I really love this company had a hiring freeze. When the job came up again they gave me a calls (like 8mo later) and asked me to apply. We had talked about a salary of about $120k. I apply and they call to discuss the role. The job had more responsibilities added, which was a mash of two jobs and definitely not what I had originally applied to. The kicker… the job title/grade was two levels below the original and they wanted a masters degree or 16+ years of experience. The first job just required a bachelors degree. I lost my temper and told the recruiter that it would be a step down from my current role and an insult to thing I would want that job with more responsibilities and less pay (they were offering $85k). She got pissed and tried to argue, but I ended up telling her I wasn’t interested in arguing with her and hung up.
