It’s not something I’d describe as a “legal concern” but being dismissed for gross missconduct would be the Mery Christmas Duncan Movies Sticky Bandits Home Alone shirt Apart from…,I will love this worst case scenario. How likely this would be would depend on how seriously your workplace takes this kind of thing and how valuable you are as an employee. At best I’d expect some kind of disciplinary action. In some ways just not showing up might be better as a single unauthorised abscence would be less likely to lead to dismissal than the breakdown in trust that would come from actively choosing to deceive your employer with regards to being sick. Can’t you just ask to take it as unpaid leave? That would be better than pulling a sickie when they know you’re going on holiday It’s not, they’re more likely to give unpaid leave when it’s inconvenient because at least they’re not spending money on the wages. It’s always worth a shot

I would disagree, unpaid leave is an additional day of personnel being unavailable, why not just authorise paid leave instead. Places I have worked it’s very rare you’d get unpaid and it’s for unforeseen circumstances. OP’s manager has identified they are required to be in for whatever reason. If it’s availability, and other people have the Mery Christmas Duncan Movies Sticky Bandits Home Alone shirt Apart from…,I will love this time off, it may be worth speaking to those to see if they’d cancel it. In my place there are enforced no leave days, like when there is critical need for everybody to be in the office. It sucks but I haven’t been able to be off work the 1st 2nd or 3rd business day of a month for nearly 7 years now I’m going to have a word with My manager later. At the moment I don’t know who has it off so I will have to find out. What happens to you if you do just take a day off (sickness or not coming in) purely depends on your company. I’ve known people that were dismissed, put on disciplinary and nothing when they took time off even though their holiday request was denied. Your manager will probably have a set limit of people they are aloud to have off at one time, its a rigid structure in these places and most managers are not aloud to go around the rules. Always worth speaking to your site manager and explaining the situation, they will have more leeway to decide things like that. What was the reason for the refusal? Ie to many people off already or a busy period or something random? Seems like they have rejected it very quickly is it a special date or something?
