The couples therapist I saw with my ex did virtually the Merry Cleveland Christmas Logo shirt moreover I love this same thing. He pulled me back after another pointless session and just said, “Leave him.” Same thing happened to my dad with his first wife- counselor pulled him aside and asked him why he was even still bothering. My parents went to couples therapy. Their therapist pretty much shit on my dad the whole time. I know that sounds bad for a therapist to say, but he wasn’t a good father or husband at the time. My mom worked 12 hour shifts at the hospital AND had to cook and clean. He didn’t help with child care at all. He also was taught that girls don’t need to spend time with their fathers, so he never spent time with my sister and I. He was also an angry man. Always yelled. Never hit us though. Once the therapist told him that he is mostly at fault for the relationship issues, my dad cried. It was the first time my mom had seen my dad cry. Then I saw him cry when he was apologizing to my sister and I (I was 10 at the time). He was a new man after therapy. He’s a completely different person, but in a good way. Now he’s fun to spend time with and is a better father and husband.

dang, pretty amazing he actually achieved insight rather than doubling down on his destructive behaviors. so glad he’s a new man! I went to couples therapy many years ago with an abusive ex. 20 minutes into the Merry Cleveland Christmas Logo shirt moreover I love this first session she asked to speak with us individually, me first. She said, this is not a safe situation, you need to leave. I’m going to bring him in, you need to leave and go home while he’s in here and pack your things and leave. Thank you for taking her advice, she obviously knew what she was talking about. I’ll admit I’m curious as to what was said in those 20 minutes, but you don’t owe an explanation. We brought up issues with each other, from what I gathered she picked up that I wanted to compromise and meet in the middle and he wanted full control. He was also actively using meth at the time and was very fidgety and angry for the duration. Blaming me for his behaviour. I noticed him looking at me with a lot of anger when I brought up my problems. Maybe I was hesitant too, because of how I thought he’d respond. I don’t remember exactly what was said in the 20 minutes, but whatever it was was enough for her to do some emergency stuff. I think it was a lot of small things adding up to a larger “vibe”, and she was right about him too. He had previously locked me inside my own rental apartment for a week, and in that time he threatened to kill me, burned my carpet, and threw a chair out a window. I had to call my dad to call the police to get me out.
