What G grandma and G grandpa have at this stage is not the Merry Christmas Snoopy Santa Clause And Woodstock Xmas Tree shirt and by the same token and same as what you are earning now. While life has been “cheaper”, ones lifestyle is accumulated over time with decisions made throughout. What was prioritized in early years does dictate how you end up in later years. Kids don’t work that way lol. They’re mimics. You’re letting your daughter consume too much media and now she’s parroting what she’s seen. This isn’t a moment to be proud of… The most important thing those grandparents did was not take on debt. Living within your means is important. It helps you maintain healthy spending habits. Way less people on earth back then. Supply vs demand. Now it’s catch and release while we parade weirdness. Current society is unsustainable.

In the Merry Christmas Snoopy Santa Clause And Woodstock Xmas Tree shirt and by the same token and 60s, a CEO made 20 times the median wage of their employees. Now it’s more like 400 times. There are 16 million empty homes across the USA, while a few hundred thousand are homeless. 40% of all food is thrown away, 130 billion meals worth. It’s not “supply vs demand”, there is more than enough to go around. It is pure greed and a massive power imbalance, plain and simple. I think you’re just a bit overreaching on your six years old comprehension on economics, but why the hell not, maybe next year they can be send off to MIT. Do we really need to accuse people who want kids of some sort of moral or ethical failing because it got super expensive to have them? Last I checked the average cost of raising a child from 0 to 18 is approx £202,660, I’d imagine the USA is similar. If people only had kids if they could definitely afford them without some tighter budgeting very few people would have kids at all.
