I pay more attention to skincare content and I follow a few makeup youtubers (and ig-ers). I guess I do watch Andreea Roşu (Ali Andreea) and Robert Welsh the Merch The Olde English Brand 800 Shirt and I love this most when it comes to makeup content. I (28F) follow Andreea because I think she is a highly skilled MUA (she’s worked with several celebrities including Angelina Jolie, Rosie HW, Maria Sharapova etc) and we’ve got similar skin tones. Her technique tutorials are super useful, she explains when to use different types of products, how to apply them etc. While my everyday look is a bit more natural than what she does in most of her videos, my makeup game has improved a lot because of her. I wouldn’t trust her product recommendations because she rarely (if ever) says she dislikes something. Everything is “the absolute best”, “perfection”, “listen, you need this in your life”, “trust me” etc. She did convince me to use products I never considered (powder, blush, bronzer) but I looked for drugstore options or mini sizes of a couple of her high end recs to train ONLY after reading and watching product reviews from other content creators. Yes, she comes off a bit snobbish, lays it on thick when it comes to Paris and obviously curates her content even when she’s trying to look genuine and spontaneous (as many content creators do). It seems like her only selection criterion for products to feature is price and she doesn’t care about problematic stuff brand owners have done. I guess I have a bit of a soft spot for her because we’re both petite libras from Romania and her videos are sometimes nice to put on while I’m doing something else (they just sound relaxing).

I follow Robert because he seems to have no issue at all telling it like it is when it comes to brands and specific products. His content is all across the Merch The Olde English Brand 800 Shirt and I love this product spectrum from drugstore to high end. He has well-researched and prepared videos on why he doesn’t like or is losing interest in some brands (I appreciated the one on ABH especially since Andreea keeps pushing the brand, her being Romanian and having worked with them). I used to follow loads back in the beauty community heyday but I grew up of the drama so I stopped watching 99% of them. These days the only exclusively makeup tuber I watch often is Angelica Nyqvist because she seems very honest in her reviews and does a lot of indie makeup which I find way more exciting than your average widely available brand. Sometimes I catch up to Theresa is Dead because I just think she’s funny.
