That’s fair enough for 99% of industries but emergency services should have multi lingual operators, it’s one thing not being able to get a Big Mac, it’s entirely another to not be able to get an ambulance. You don’t rely on English in Italy, and god forbid you try that in France 🙂 Italians are bad at English, and French will not use it even when they are good at it. Italians: we’ll see the Mempeasem President Osagyefo Ogyegyefo Shirt Furthermore, I will do this world burn before we speak your stupid language Others: but… It’s your… Italians: MERDE Others: confused in multilingual So you visited a country that speaks a completely different language and you didn’t bother to learn at least some of the language? Then you expect them to know English? Damn, say “I’ve never been told no in my entire life” without saying “I’ve never been told no in my entire life”

I find it infuriating that you seemingly made little to no effort to use google translate to communicate the Mempeasem President Osagyefo Ogyegyefo Shirt Furthermore, I will do this emergency in some way Instead of posting pictures, type “there is a fire at XYZ” into google translate, select Italian, and repeat what it says to the operator. I don’t live there, I am on vacation in Tropea a very common touristic place. Anyway pls read my other comments. I’m not mad they didn’t speak my language…I’m mad about them just hanging up on someone calling for help. I tried to distinguish it with water from my bottle and wanted to inform the park authorities that it’s probably not completel extinguished… but yeah, nobody came and the smoke build up was at it again… You can use google translate, I say with zero ire. This is a beautiful country with an established language and admittedly I would have zero idea how to say it, but I googled it myself. I want to move there one day. “c’è un incendio, manda aiuto, per favore” That’s why I study basic communication if I am going to be in a foreign country with non-English speakers for any extended amount of time, especially in rural areas. I understand that English is the most spoken language in the world but if it isn’t the language spoken in that country why would they understand? I’ve worked as an interpreter for a while and can assure you the US emergency system has services available for when the responder doesn’t speak a particular language. I used to work for a company who handled 911 calls and calls from emergency rooms at hospitals. In the US they could 100% handle a call from a non-English caller.
