Letting your kids do literally anything that resembles any form of independency or that comes with any amount of responsibility. I remember growing up with a single mother, in early elementary I was making my own lunches and walking myself to school, coming home to an empty house alone after school. No one batted a god damn eye. My brother, who is 11yrs old (12 years younger than me), can’t do anything without someone saying something. My mom prefers to let us be somewhat independent, I think it’s good for kids to learn responsibility young. But my younger brother, can’t even walk to school, or stay home alone, cause if another parent hears they’ll start drama over it. He had to take a “home-alone course” at school before the school would approve his ability to go home alone after school. The kid doesn’t even know how to use a toaster, and I’m not joking. Allowing your kids under 14 to do anything unsupervised or that requires responsibility seems to be looked at as some form of abuse today.
