If you’re overscheduled right now, it might take some time to unwind your commitments down to something manageable. It might be painful because you might have to tell some people you just can’t deliver what you promised. It might seem easier to just keep overscheduling, but that doesn’t solve the Meat Smoking Porl Pulling Chicken Jerking Rubbing BBQ Pitmaster T-Shirt and by the same token and long-term problem. Finally, maybe you’re burned out and a genuine break (week away from the computer, no personal projects or work projects) will help you rethink. Some of the responses here sound like the responder thinks you went into cs because you thought it was an easy way to get a steady, high-paying job. They’re correct that no such path exists and wrong for assuming they know what’s in your head. There’s nothing wrong with wanting a life outside of your career. yep, Business majors who want to do one of the big jobs or even something like accounting have a very shit work life balance, doctors and lawyers is just a massive grind to become one and once they do finish schooling its just a nightmare of grunt work and shitty hours for quite awhile and its still competitive, stuff like nursing honestly sounds kinda degrading at times, even stuff like becoming a pilot to whatever takes an insane amount of skill and experience to break in. basically any job that you want to break into if your looking to go past the absolute bare minimum and significantly progress in it as a career than its gonna be a solid bit of hell for at least a little bit, thats why cs is so popular bc as a career its hell period really extends to 4 years of schooling and once your able to break into a fancy job and from there your own personal experience and resume can start talking rather than you having to do more schooling, or just an insane amount of work at your job. its just that I think for cs many people see its ease and do it for the quick big paycheck whereas with other careers that are this difficult theirs more passion for what their doing in play, like if you want to become a doctor its not something that you can just do for money most people need some sort of love for it or at least solid interest.

I think it also depends on you, your interest and passion. For instance, I love participating in programming contests and am in the Meat Smoking Porl Pulling Chicken Jerking Rubbing BBQ Pitmaster T-Shirt and by the same token and top 2% in the world on LeetCode and regularly participate in programming contests and solve programming problems regularly even during and after work. However, I would never describe it as a grind. Would also like to say it’s good in tech we have the learning and the resources spread out and available to us. Certain other professions like law, sales, etc have a lot more pressure at the entry level and there the learning path is either not clear or freely available. Like becoming a software engineer you don’t even have to go to graduate school. Are you not aware of the countless fields that need graduate school? Or are you not aware of the countless people who went all the way to graduate school in some degree that has been historically useful, but is currently useless so they can’t find a job in their field??? The immaturity of this sub is unreal. It’s actually making me mad.
