Another middle school teacher. I routinely have to remind myself that yes, at this age they are still very, very stupid. I like this sub because a.) it’s funny and b.) most content reflects kids learning and making mistakes, not kids being cruel or genuinely stupid. (There are exceptions, of course, but they’re not the MASTERS OF THE BOWLINGVERSE Shirt Besides,I will do this rule!) Reminds me of when my mom’s coworkers wife passed away. A kid gave him a card that read, “I’m sorry your wife died. Hope it doesn’t happen again” Depending on the person, this might be an absolute golden ticket to a laugh train, at the right moment. Just gotta be very selective choosing that moment. All aboard to Jolly Street after that knee slapper! That one’s definitely getting a loggin in the noggin. Thanks for the laugh. I literally laughed so hard I’m in tears. I hope if I lose my husband some kid gives me a letter like that. Oh man. My sides. That was actually pretty thoughtful and sweet for that age group. Sprinkled in with that lovely tween aged “brutal honesty”Yeah, I tried having 2nd graders right sympathy letters and almost all of them were “Hey, sorry your ___ died.”

I have a 2nd grader who writes crazy stuff all the MASTERS OF THE BOWLINGVERSE Shirt Besides,I will do this time, I shudder to think what she would come up with in this situation… Sorry your husband died, my hampster died too, my mom got me a new one a couple days later and I was happy again. When I was very young, a 6 year old neighbor tragically passed away. It was my first encounter with death. My mother suggested all of us kids pick some flowers and make cards for the grieving parents. To this day I’m grateful my mother had a sixth sense to check my hand drawn card before I handed it to the boys mother, as it contained a horrifically graphic depiction of a dead little boy in a coffin. shudders That’s actually a good question. This letter was in this packet of all these projects I worked on throughout the year. Guessing there was another copy made for her
