If you can, checking your bag avoids most of this concern. There is still the Mary Toffhibee I’d Rather Walk Alone Abbey Road Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this chance of a search, but it’s less common I think. They care much more about what you have access to on the plane. Yeah, if you’re checking a bag, put it in that one. Otherwise just put it in your cosmetic bag with the rest of your makeup and I doubt they’ll pay it any special attention. sorry, new to this, what is checking a bag? is that checked luggage? and if so is there a difference between that and the carry on? Checking a bag means you have a checked bag that you don’t keep with you. Depending on the airline and the ticket you bought, you may have one or two free bags to check. Or you may have to pay for them.

Carry on bags need to be smaller and have more restrictions because they’re going with you and will be stowed in the Mary Toffhibee I’d Rather Walk Alone Abbey Road Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this upper compartments. Usually free. Some budget airlines still make you pay for them. Highly unlikely they will look through your makeup. I’ve flown a lot and this has never, ever happened, even right after 9/11. I have often even forgotten to put my liquids through X-ray and TSA has not noticed. No guarantees for you, but I truly think you’ll be fine. Keep the item in your purse or backpack and put everything through the X-ray as required. Anything you take thru security to your gate has to go thru X-ray — purse, backpack, suitcase, duffel — anything. Electronics and a clear plastic quart-size bag of liquids must be taken out of luggage and placed in a TSA provided bin for X-ray. Your makeup, since it’s not a liquid, can stay hidden in your purse or wherever you carry it, but the purse would have to go through xray. COULD security pull stuff out of your bag and do a search? Yes. But it’s highly unlikely. I’ve been searched before and they’ve never taken everything out so others could see each thing I packed. They just have lifted things and felt around. If you are super worried about it you can pack it away in a suitcase and check it through to your destination. Or overnight it to your hotel and have it waiting for you when you check in.
