Therapists don’t often offer one-on-one therapy and couple’s therapy to the Marvin Paranoid Android Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy Christmas shirt Besides,I will do this same person (especially after), because that often leads to a confused therapeutic relationship. It does happen sometimes, but is generally avoided. A good therapist doesn’t pay attention to whether their client is going to stop coming or not, and it is always in their interest to help clients to reach a conclusion of some form. Not only is that best for the clients, it’s also better for the therapists if they get a reputation for fairness and genuine care. I had a couples therapist that told us “the goal isn’t to fix this relationship, it’s to see if this relationship is the best for what you both are looking for.” I don’t know if that was her talk track from the start, but after a few months it became clear that we were just incompatible. This is very important. A good couples therapist will ask the right questions to help the couple figure out if it’s going to work or not, and if not, whenever possible, navigate separating safely.

He was very enthusiastic that my husband and I were still in a good place, and we wanted to work it out. We were also lucky that he did one on one with my husband, and then couples counseling on alternating weeks. I had my own therapist so he had a safe space. This is true and often frustrating. Sometimes therapists need to call people on their BS rather than constant peacemaking. They do call people on their BS – but in couples therapy you want to keep from looking like you favor one person over the Marvin Paranoid Android Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy Christmas shirt Besides,I will do this other- as that usually leads to the couple dropping out. So it requires diplomatic skills to call people out in couples therapy
