Crumpets were a Sunday tea treat when I was a child but now I’ve gone off the Marriota #8 Pass The Ball American football quarterback Washington Commanders T-Shirt But I will love this rails and eat them any time. A friend gave me cheese on crumpet not long after I left home and that was a revelation. Butter, beans and cheese-any combination of those 3, nothing else. I’ve only ever had them for breakfast, with butter and jam. I’ve seen suggestions online for having them as a savoury snack/meal but it just doesn’t sit right with my brain! They are an anytime goes meal. I generally eat them for breakfast or lunch (I like cheese on mine) but you can also have them as a fair dinner, just with baked beans and cheese. I wouldn’t label them, if you fancy them, eat them I have eaten countless crumpets in my lifetime. But never for breakfast. I don’t even know anyone that has eaten them for breakfast!

They are for teatime, and for reference teatime for me is a non cooked meal late afternoon/early evening probably at the Marriota #8 Pass The Ball American football quarterback Washington Commanders T-Shirt But I will love this weekend. I happily eat a couple for dinner if I fancy something light. Nearly bought some the other day to do that but had stuff to finish in the fridge I love a crumpet any time of day I have tried them with a poached egg on top. It’s OK, but I think I really prefer poached eggs on toast. Preferably with a bit of smoked bacon… The crumpet orthodoxy in our house growing up was any time of day, butter or cheese only. I can see perhaps marmalade but both strawberry jam / beans feel very wrong. Feel like I don’t have much of a leg to stand on to criticise you both though as I also grew up eating only jam on staffs oatcakes – which as an adult having actually lived in staffordshire for a bit, now sounds frankly like a sin. Always think it’s weird we’ve classified certain foods as “for breakfast” or “for Sunday” or “for Xmas” or anything like that, let alone that we still stick with it when so much is almost constantly available. You have them when you want them but yes, crumpets butter and marmite are either a breakfast food or a late night shall we put some crumpets on food Free yourselves from the chains of baked goods oppression and embrace the deliciousness and freedom it brings
