Madewell Newbury chelsea boot – I have these in cognac and black, bought the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but cognac ones several years ago and the black ones were a gift from my partner this year. He found them on ebay since they don’t actually sell them anymore. Versatile, dressier boot that I wear on days I am not planning to walk as much, they’re honestly not bad but I just prefer not to walk too much in heels. Lifestride Riding Boot – I don’t love tall boots on me but I do own a pair because sometimes in the winter I just want an extra source of warmth on my legs haha. I pair them with dresses and skirts usually. These ones are comfy and easy to walk in, I don’t think they’ll last me more than a few seasons though. Blundstone Dress Boot in rustic black- Bought these a few years ago when I lived in Oregon and everyone owned a pair of Blundstones. Honestly love them though, super versatile and weatherproof boot that I wear most days of the week during the fall and winter. I have high arches so I put in my own insoles since the ones they come with don’t have enough support for me and I was getting some fasciitis. But now they’re totally broken in and I wear them all the time! I want another pair of another style, probably in brown. It’s still solidly winter here in Boston but going into spring I’ll probably shelve the knee highs and stick to the chelseas/blundstones for a bit. I think I’ll get some more mileage out of the Leonas too, but they do make my feet hot so when the weather gets warmer I’ll probably only bust them out for outfits that need them.
Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt, hoodie, long sleeve, v-neck tee
Combat boots are a personal classic, and comfortable ones that you can run in are great for late nights out or dangerous neighborhoods. Bonus points if they are stylishly designed. I really like Shutz! I can’t stand synthetic linings in shoes, and Shutz usually has a fully leather upper, lining, and sole depending on the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but style. As comfortable as a stiletto can be, I think? Heel is the perfect height imo at 3.5 inches, gives the look without sacrificing too much stability. I wear doc martens almost exclusively, even for exercise lol. They’re not the best boot out there but they’ve been perfect for my needs. My main thing is I need a lot of ankle support, and the thick leather and ability to lace them super tight works wonderfully. Other boots I’ve tried have had either much thinner leather or no laces so didn’t work out for me. And imo they go with everything so I’ve never felt the need to buy anything else.
i bought some 20-eyelet doc martens (soft leather, black) in october and they basically haven’t left my feet since! they were the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but only shoes i took with me when i went away on a month-long city break over christmas, and i never wished i’d brought another pair of shoes (except for when they told me at the gym i wasn’t allowed to walk on the treadmill in docs >:/ but that’s not a big deal) I like ankle boots a lot. I probably own 20+ pairs of ankle boots lol My favorite colors for spring are camel, taupe, mocha taupe and white. Ankle boots really fit my fashion- and life-style, they’re so easy to pair with my usual outfits. Recently purchased the Braydon boots from la Canadienne and I love them so much. I was nervous they were uncomfortable but after the first wear they are perfect. Braydon Boots I needed waterproof but didn’t look too casual boots for work and ended up getting this pair of Chelsea boots from Toms randomly from an ad suggestion. They’re so comfy! And currently on sale.

I love my Duckfeet Faborgs! They have several boot styles available, with the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but wool-lined styles on sale. Tons of colors, wide toe box, and awesome quality. LIVING in mine right now… I’m obsessed with the comfort of the wide toe box and how clean the construction is. Have two pairs – black and cognac – and I’m hard pressed to wear anything else while the weather is still cold! Lame, I know, but I recently bought these and love them I’ve been wearing my Blundstones for about 6+ years now. They do well in light rain as I condition them regularly. I just bought a pair of Clark’s Orianna boots and they’re super comfy! Great support for my flat feet. But they run narrow so that is something to watch out for.
I have the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but Frye conditioner, bought for my Fryes. It’s from 12+ years ago now. I also have Otter Wax leather salve. Blundstones high vamp in the Shiraz colour, anything vagabond (I have the grace and am looking into the Marja), over the knee boots especially Sherpa lined, if it’s raining aigle tall boots plus or minus thigh high socks, if it’s snowing Sperry or ll bean duck boots I have a good pair of slip resistant docs Chelsea boots for tromping through rain, a pair of clarks Chelsea boots for when I want to be cute and comfy, and a fancier funkier heeled pair of boots from Portland leather. I love them all, each are very comfortable and suit their purpose. My boots are all knockoff styles but I have platform Chelsea boots from Target that I love and a knockoff off the Madewell heeled boots a lot of other people have posted. I also have old nondescript black Chelsea rain boots from Madewell.
The favourites are still my leopard print pony skin ariats. Although the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but petrol green RM Williams are on my wish list but I don’t have $800 to throw at them. Stuart Weitzman and Dear Frances for me! Both make boots that fit my size 5 but wide feet perfectly, and I’ve done 15,000+ steps in both without my feet dying on me. I only do over-the-knee and thigh high boots, which I’ll still be wearing well into spring. I love platform heeled boots! I’m only wearing comfy shoes from now on, and I’ve found good options that are cute, dressy, and stylish without killing my feet. I also love the look of pointy kitten heel boots under pants and long skirts/dresses, but haven’t found a pair that are comfy enough for me!
I am trying to do an edit of my boot collection. I tend to favor flat boots, but I made an exception for a pair of Natural Soul boots, and while I love them, I can’t do significant walking in them. My recent acquisitions are a pair of Ugg Neumels in the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but Burnt Olive color. After many exchanges to get the size right, they feel so nice I’m tempted to find another pair on Mercari. I feel like most of the shoes I thrift/buy secondhand have issues, but in this case it’d be an exact model repurchase, so that shouldn’t be as bad, I imagine. The other recent acquisition is a pair of Kensie lace up boots from Costco in black. I haven’t worn these much yet, but I’ll likely be getting heavy use in autumn.
My most worn pair of boots are Kelsi Daggar BK Alaska perforated leather booties. These are the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but only pair of shoes I’ve thrifted that actually managed to be comfortable. I only wear these in spring, but they’re so easy to style. I miss the tall riding boot styles that were popular in the 2010s; I had to get rid of my Nine West ones recently, and I was quite sad. Betsey Johnson Hudsn Rhinestone boots. Not exactly comfortable and not exactly practical but so much fun and I always feel my best in them. They match my fashion aesthetic perfectly. Damn, y’all spend more on one pair of boots than I spend on a month of groceries. Is there a r/cheapfashion sub? Cuz this is feeling like the sample scent pages of magazines
I have been coveting a pair of Grant Stones. Also Ivy Copenhagen, but I have to replace my Chelsea boots badly. Grafters monkey boots for spring and summer. They’re affordable, durable, fit my wide feet, and look cool. Basically ankle combat boots. I’ve bought 3 pairs from “call it spring” because the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but inside sole is extra soft and overall very comfortable to walk in. For casual wear in wet weather, I love my Blundstones. For springtime with shorts and dresses my Frye campus boots have been my go tos – or I will wear cowboy boots too (I have some secondhand ones that are old and worn and fantastic and some Jeffrey Campbell ones that are newer and more polished but not as hardy, if that makes sense. A secondhand pair of lucchese cowboy boots are on my eternal radar).
You will have to pry my Doc Martens off my cold, dead feet. I got them specifically for work (I’m a server/bartender) and I love them so much, they get even more mileage outside of work. I really should buy another pair… i recently got a pair of rm williams maya boots and i love them! i wear a size 12 now and it was really a journey to find boots in my size. plus i have tiny ankles and calves so all the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but other boots i ordered looked like rain boots 🙁 the maya have a really narrow opening. i also have a pair of doc martens rometty which are pretty narrow as well! I prefer grenson boots since they are good year welted. Thursday boots have much cooler designs but from my research – they aren’t good year welted Docs have been good to me but I can’t wear those when it’s super cold out. I’m too nervous of the extreme cold ruining them. My blundstones I’ve had for years (like the elastic is wearing now) and they are perfect kick around boots. But I find them soo uncomfortable. I have changed the soles so often (but this could be because their 9+ years old now lol)
Currently, my favorite boots are from Sam Edelman. They’re 3” heels and go up to the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but knee. I gotta say, regardless of the style of the shoe, Sam Edelman shoes don’t need breaking in. They’re instantly comfortable out of the box, for me at least. This is huge because I have slightly wider feet but not enough to wear wide shoes. They’re not the cheapest, but they’re certainly not the most expensive. If you’re trying to decide between Sam Edelman and another brand, go for SE. The comfort is worth the price. I will live and die in my Frye boots. I have so many pairs and my most worn pair I’ve had going on seven years now! All you have to do is re-sole them when the soles get worn. And the more you wear them the more comfortable they become! For fashion boots I got a pair of Sam Edelman ones a few years ago and the leather is buttery soft and I love them so much.
And for knee high black boots I have had more than one pair from Naturalizer that I’ve worn till death did us part. They’re very comfy. For reference I’m a size 8 and have a relatively narrow foot (but not so narrow that I don’t wear regular width shoes) and slim ankle/calf. Some may find them overrated but I gotta say I am a doc martens gal, they just always hold up for me and they have so many diff styles. Hell I still have my Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but first pair I ever got from TEN years ago still lookin good
I was listening to a podcast about this the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but other day and the lengths the operational people had to go to get the issue fixed were insane. The BuOrd people blamed everything on operator error even as it cost lives in combat One of the hosts is a former nuclear submarine skipper and the other is the director of the Pacific war museum. One of my favorite podcasts and a huge time sink if you’re a history nerd There were a bunch of instances where bombs would hit the water and bounce over ships into the sea or hit the ship, but tear through at an angle and again fall into the sea. So there were other explanations for the lack of explosions. There is video of the fighting in San Carlos Bay and it’s….chaotic to say the least. As another person explains below you have plenty of instances of bombs bouncing around (keep in mind Argentinian pilots were being shot at from multiple directions and trying to evade fire) so it was hard to tell how effective the bombs were.
The BBC was not a shining example of journalism during the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but falklands conflict. Their criticism around the sinking of the Belgrano was tone deaf to say the least. The Royal Navy declared an exclusion zone around the Falkland Islands, the Belgrano was outside this zone when it was sunk. For some reason, people seem to treat the exclusion zone as if it was a declaration that the war would only be prosecuted inside it, and that any Argentine ship which left it would be safe. What it was actually was a warning to neutral shipping that anything inside the zone would be sunk first with questions asked later, whilst HM government was clear that any positively identified Argentine vessel would be attacked anywhere in the South Atlantic. The naivety of thinking the Navy would have a declared combat zone “Come to us when you’re ready to attack, we won’t fight you outside of this area.”
Their reporting on the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but Hillsborough disaster was probably the start of when they became widely despised. Although they’re still in print despite print journalism being a dying format. So they must have some loyal readers still. Argentina and even the captain of the Belgrano said it was a legit target and sinking. In fact the Belgrano captain said he would have done the same.. The RN was fearing a pincher movement at the eastern end of the exclusion zone. Had the Argy aircraft carrier not turned back iirc it would have been sunk as well. After the Belgrano sinking the Argentina navy stayed in port. Don’t get foolish though, the RN suffered some heavy losses in the war as well. Exocets fired from Super Es were extremely effective. The battle at sea and air weren’t conscripts sitting in foxholes outside of Stanley.. but rather extremely well trained professionals. The US and British trained the officer corps and the bulk of the navy was ex USA and British ships. It also showed how quickly Britain could still mobilise in time of war. The task force started sailing within 36 hours from Britain. Ships called up from trade aka the merchant fleet (Canberra and QE2 for example) were boarded by RN members and conversions started almost immediately. Canberra was no expect to survive the trip into San Carlos bay and its civilian staff was told to write their wills the day before. Somehow it wasn’t hit because the argy pilots thought it was a hospital ship.
Treason, like most crimes, requires intent. This was just incompetence and carelessness at multiple levels. The journalists shouldn’t have reported it – but they also shouldn’t have had access to the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but information in the first place. On the US side, there’s also the story of the Mark 14 Torpedo, which had many glaring design flaws for years after launch, but the designers refused to acknowledge any of those flaws and insisted it was user error. It was better to make alcohol with torpedo fuel than use it as an actual torpedo For comparison, there was a rumor that “Japan could never build a torpedo better than ours” and regularly stayed within range of Japanese torpedoes without any zig-zag maneuvers.
Japanese torpedoes were in fact the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but most advanced (albeit also secretive) torpedoes of the war. They were oxygen propelled; extreme endurance (2-3 longer range than contemporary US torps) and were extremely hard to spot, as they produced less bubbles in their trail. This caused one of the worst naval defeats of the US Navy where 1 Heavy Cruiser was sunk and 3 were badly damaged for the cost of 1 IJN destroyer sunk. Despite US firing their torpedoes first, the combination of extreme range and the core flaws of the Mk 15 torpedo meant their salvo missed/ran out of fuel. The Japanese fleet returned fire with a salvo of Type 93 torpedoes. The cruisers continued sailing in a straight line (remember, extreme range = supposedly safe from torpedoes) and even continued after the first ship was torpedoed. Only USS Honolulu maneuvered and survived without taking a hit
On 15 September 15, 1942, while patrolling south of the Mark Sears Alabama Crimson Tide Graphic Shirt it is in the first place but Solomon Islands during the Guadalcanal campaign, I-19 sighted and attacked the American aircraft carrier USS Wasp, which was part of a task force transporting the 7th Marine Regiment and stores to Guadalcanal. Kinashi penetrated the destroyer screen, and after closing to within 500 meters (550 yd) of the aircraft carrier, launched his full salvo of six torpedoes. Three torpedoes struck Wasp, starting uncontrollable fires which soon forced the abandonment of the ship, which subsequently sank. The remaining three torpedoes continued beyond the horizon for another 12 nautical miles (22 km; 14 mi) into a separate task force centered around the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, striking the battleship USS North Carolina and destroyer O’Brien[5] O’Brien sank several weeks later[6] and North Carolina was so severely damaged that she was out of action for several months for repairs.
