One of my kids friends got a handwritten letter from the Mahomes and Kelce they hate us ’cause the ain’t us signatures shirt and I will buy this tooth fairy. Then we all had to do handwritten letters! Haha I did this to my mum too as a kid, I wanted to test and see if the handwriting looked like my mums. I don’t know why I was such a deeply skeptical child, I ruined my own fun. I’ll write out a note from the tooth fairy or a letter from santa etc and then my wife will dissappear for half an hour or so and come back with something that looks strait out of a fairy tale. The note from the tooth fairy for example was this absolutely tiny cursive decorated with glitter etc and genuinely looked like a fairy had written it. Watch The Hogfather with them, then when they sleep, just chew up the paper, spit it out, leave it under their pillow with the tooth gone, and give them nightmares. My brother got a hand written I.O.U from the tooth fairy when we were kids because we were too skint that month 5 quid lol. I always thought a quid was a reasonable amount was the same when I was a kid, times are changing a guess I gave mine £2 and felt like I got the better deal so I can see why some have moved to £5. Doesn’t feel right without the coin though.

It doesn’t have to be a book. Thats the point, make it something for your child. Extra time in the park. Visit to the Library. Making cookies together. Vouchers can be made to fit what is needed. I know it is hard but you got this.

I get what people are saying about affording books. Shops like Works and eBay and charity shop finds have saved us many times. 20-25 years ago I got 50p-£1 even from a working class council estate background so I do think £1 is the bare minimum nowadays. I got 50p unless I stayed at my grandparents, in which case I got £1. It seems Buckinghamshire had fancier tooth fairies than Berkshire! I used to try and save my teeth til I went to stay with my grandparents – it was quite the art – just enough wobble so it would come out, but not so much it would come out too soon!

Genuinely thinking about just coming clean and saying the tooth fairy is a fraud as I can’t afford to keep this going When I was a kid it was 50p, except at the Grandparents, then it was £2 because they had a middle class tooth fairy. Adjusted for inflation I’d make that £1.25 at home, fiver at the grandparents.

True. I notice them sometimes too and have moments of nostalgia but haven’t bought them for a long time either. The diminishing quality definitely is off-putting to me also. I’m still eating Lucky Charms sometimes so I keep in touch with my childhood that way anyway. I just wanted to say, I always saw those online and in US shows or whatever… I always knew US candy is extremely sweet, but I thought how bad can it be. So I bought a totally overpriced cinnamon version cause I was thinking come on, no one can screw up bread + sugar + cinnamon combo. This has yet to be the sweetest thing I have ever eaten in my entire life. I do not even know how one can manage to make it THAT sweet, cause even eating a spoon full of sugar feels less sweet. Extremely disturbing and made me feel sick. I was so confused. Got me doubting if this is just some product placement thing and Americans do not eat them in reality at all?! 🥲 But my friends from the US said they definitely eat them.

A few years back, I’ve started wearing my art makeup looks in public, instead of just for pictures. I get comments ALL the time, and only 2 have ever been bad (from teenage kids, mind you.) A man struck up a conversation and bought me a pie when I had moss on my face. I have complete strangers coming up to me saying things like “wow! You look so cool!” And “Thats amazing!” Sometimes they ask if Im coming/going to a performance, and when I say no, it’s always well received. BASICALLY! I think we need to normalize being confident decked out in beautiful intricate art makeup, as well as normal makeup. I LOVE seeing people with eccentric looks in public, and SO many people do BEAUTIFUL art makeup at home but are too nervous to wear it out. The more people start wearing it, the less weird it’ll beI love this message and agree! We need more individuals expressing themSELVES not just following trends! Yes 🙂 nothing wrong with enjoying a trend, but I LOVE seeing people’s creativity and eccentricity in their makeup
I always incorporate some kind of design into my makeup looks and add rhinestones, stickers, or nail art decor and lots of glitter. I’ve posted some of my looks on other subreddits if you wanted to take a look. People often ask if I’m going out to a party or I have something to do at work, but my reply is ’this is my everyday makeup look’. Makeup is fun and truly has no limits. Wow! I just looked at your posts, SO GORGEOUS AND CREATIVE!! Thats what I love to see!! When we were in lockdown my son had an exemption to attend on site schooling (special needs kids were allowed where I lived) and walking him to and from school I amused myself by pulling fancier and fancier things out of my wardrobe, there was everything from sequinned hot pants to full length silk evening dresses being worn at 8am by the end and I noticed some other people were having a lot of fun with their clothing choices too, it was an easy free way to cheer ourselves up a bit as well as a kind of commentary on how getting to leave the house at all qualified as a “special occasion”, there were lots of folks getting dressed up to take the rubbish bins out with heels, tiaras etc. I kept up that mindset afterwards too, that today is a special occasion and there’s no reason to keep fancy stuff away for “best” if you love it. I even talked an elderly lady into buying this amazing fully sequinned gold and black evening jacket she was trying on in a thrift store. It looked great on and fit well but she said she didn’t have anywhere to wear anything like that, while still admiring how nice it looked in the mirror. I told her about how I think even going to the park can be a good reason to get dressed up if it makes you happy and she said “Yeah! I’m 85, I don’t have time to wait around to get invited anywhere fancy!” and bought it.

I recently started getting into makeup like a couple months ago and I’m rather new, but I’m slowly getting better. Your skin is amazing. Birth control messed me up in the first place. It’s been almost 12 years of skin issues from it. Not sure if I’d risk going back on it I saw exactly one mark that looked like a scar, after staring for a couple of minutes, then when I went to scroll down to comment on how amazing OP’s skin looks…. I REALIZED IT WAS A SMUDGE ON MY LAPTOP SCREEN! The problem i find with BC pills is that whenever you come off them you will likely be dealing with this again. Maybe worse. I had absolutely stunning beautiful skin while on birth control and ever since I got off my skin has been so bad for the first time in my life. Cystic acne that scars all over my cheeks. I’ve never had acne in 26 years. I could go back on the pill but eventually I’ll come off it and I’ll be dealing with cystic acne again. Every solution sucks so much, it makes me sad. Same with spiro, I see people use spiro and then when they get off their acnr comes back. I don’t want to depend on medication for x years just to eventually have to come off and deal with cystic acne all over again.
I had nice, flawless skin before I started taking birth control pills. after 4-5 years, I got off of BC (husband & I are trying for a baby) and I started getting acne!! 💔💔 I never had acne before the Mahomes and Kelce they hate us ’cause the ain’t us signatures shirt and I will buy this pill. Got on it for cramps and was on it for 4 years. Stopped it July 2023, my acne is still so intense. Cystic and severe. Dermatologist told me the only solution is to get back on the pill but my mood is so much better off of it. I honestly regret ever taking the pill because now I’m getting acne scars and it never would have been a problem for me without hbc. Sigh, womanhood. I’m really glad people are talking about this because my Dr did not want me to get back on it when I was getting married (just wanted to skip a period) because I was mid-30s. It also really messed with my mood but I did have beautiful skin. Blood clot risk not worth it to me, I knew someone who’s wife died in her 30s from a blood clot and she had a little baby at the time. I think anyone who may benefit should ask their doctor anyway and get their input. Just because Yaz works for OP (and for my PMDD) doesn’t mean it’s for everyone.

Ever since starting yaz, I now get hormonal breakouts along my jaw and chin that don’t really respond to any actives. The pimples are usually small, and underneath the skin sort of but it’s always in the same spots and around the same times of month. It’s not enough to actually bother me but I def had clearer skin before yaz. What do you mean? As I understand it, BC can be taken indefinitely if you want, as long as it isn’t causing any issues. I take a combined pill, I’ve taken it for around 5 years and I have never been told by any healthcare professional that I can’t take it forever. Obviously I will have to stop around menopause, but if I wanted I could take it up until then.

Doctors are not always comfortable if you’re mid 30s and a smoker having you on it at all. There’s bone density to consider too. I truly do believe in the value of science and research but if we’re honest we have to understand that research for women’s issues is limited, underfunded and plagued with a disregard for women’s suffering. So I also doubt we’re even seeing the full scope of dangers in the research. I went (back) on the pill in my mid 30s, but my gyno was NOT stoked about it bc of the increased blood clot/stroke risk. She said my blood pressure was ok, so she’d allow it, but I was to check it monthly and go back if it went any higher. My family does have a recent history of strokes, though….BUT now I’m in perimenopause (aka hell) and my GP is talking about putting me back on it for Hrt purposes, so who knows? Lots of conflicting viewpoints, it seems.

After I developed postpartum heart failure and became a higher risk for blood clots and DVT (the real issue with being a smoker or older on birth control), I was put on Slynd. Slynd is estrogen free and still contains the synthetic progesterone found in yaz and Yasmin. It has been tested in and approved for people at risk of developing blood clots. I’m on Slynd too and I love it! My OBGYN says that it doesn’t have most of the risks that the combo pill has and that I can stay on it as long as I want to (I have endometriosis so I’d only stop it to get pregnant). My OB put me on BC and when I asked about the increased risk of blood clots she wasn’t concerned. My skin is so much better right now. I was off BC when I was having babies but now that I’m done it was time to go on it. Last summer before I started it I couldn’t even wear swimsuits or sleeveless dresses my body acne was so bad. Now it’s clear! That’s extremely outdated. The new low dose pills have a lower risk of stroke than pregnancy . I take yaz at 40 and my doctor’s encourage it. But the literature is also out there Yeah my aunt’s 50 and is still taking it (for PMDD). Honestly I love my birth control pills. I stopped taking them about 6 months ago for curiosity’s sake because I’d been on them for so long and it made my life worse
