You can be optimistic about the Madonna don’t break my heart shirt and I love this fact that, once humanity has become extinct, the earth will recover from the damage we’ve inflicted upon it, and it will be as if we we never existed at all. The structures that stood before us will still stand after. Nothing modern but the earth is covered with structures that have survived thousands of years and will continue for thousands more. It’s beautiful and Erie at the same time to think of a planet devoid of human life with signs of intelligent craftsmanship but no signs of the being that built them. Nothing guarantees Humanity and it’s descendants would go extinct before earth is destroyed. Humanity is pretty inventive and it’s ancestors have survived at least two near wipe events, without today’s tech… Anyway, I personnaly hope humanity would resolve it’s issues rather than to go extinct with it’s beauties with it. What time in the past was better? Any answer could only be because ignorance was bliss. Life for the average human has improved so much, yet our ability to communicate instantly means we can find all the negativity we want in a second instead of living our villages not knowing what was happening in the next one down.

If this world today came from such dark places, gosh, can we even conceive of what this, the Madonna don’t break my heart shirt and I love this greatest moment in human history, is going to lead to? That’s the honestly optimistic take. But I also think on an individual basis that we would each be served well by making peace with our inevitable deaths as soon as possible. Look at history, it pretty much repeats itself. It’s like a constant loop of life. Shit goes to hell, shit gets better. Rinse, cycle, repeat. Additionally, stop watching the news. There’s always awful things happening out in the world. Just focus on what’s in your little bubble of the world. What do you have direct control and influence over. Practice being grateful for the small things. Mindfulness meditation. Being present in the moment. Get out in nature. Create something, just for your own self expression and enjoyment of the process. It for sure helps to just roll with each day as it comes. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best, of course, but it helps to come to terms with what you can and cannot change in the world. Yeah, bad times might come, and we’ll have to do what we can when/if that time comes, but there’s just so much in a day that keeps us far too busy to have to be bothered with tomorrow. I grew up during the height of the cold war, WW3 was a real threat. Real enough we used to have nuclear bomb drills at school. Mortgage rates were 12-15%, car loans were pushing 20% and above. The economy was in the shitter. Life is unpredictable and surprisingly full of surprises. That’s what I’m currently holding onto, plot twists babyy.
