I got a BS in Chemistry and am now the Made in 1985 I Am Not 38 I Am 18 with 20 years of Experience Retro T-Shirt also I will do this global IT director for a multinational manufacturing company. Just an interesting series of events and opportunities that presented themselves to me. Associates Degree in Nursing. I’m an operating room nurse on the weekend night shift, so I see all the urgent and emergent cases. Anything from a mangled finger to a mangled body, appendicitis to subdural hematoma evacuations. Pretty cool and as an OR nurse you automatically avoid most of the stuff that causes burnout for your typical nursing job. I graduated in 2017 with a BS in Physics. Floated for awhile but could never find any job related to science that fit me well. Basically everything I would have liked to do that was related to my master would require a minimum of a master’s degree. Now I’ve settled into working seasonally as a mountain guide (backcountry skiing in the winter, rock climbing in the summer). The pay is atrocious and it destroys your body but I get a lot of free time in the Spring and Fall to do things that I love. I don’t really know what I will do in the long term but I am definitely getting to a point where I would like some stability in my career. Teaching seems like the most likely fallback for me.

My degree is in Anthropology. I’m now a VP of HR in tech. I considered getting a law degree too (took the Made in 1985 I Am Not 38 I Am 18 with 20 years of Experience Retro T-Shirt also I will do this LSAT, sat in on law school classes, etc). Thank god I investigated a career in law. No lawyer I met was happy and I routinely worked and currently work with lawyers who pivoted to HR. TLDR: you don’t need a law degree to crush it in a career. thank you, i completely agree. the more i meet lawyers the more i see how much a facade theyre putting up and just makes me hate the profession more and more as i go into it even when i do well. BA in English Lit. Ended up working in IT. I never would have guessed that would be my career path when I was in college. I went to a good but relatively inexpensive state college and I was able to pay off my student loans. I’d probably be more bitter if I went to a really expensive private university, but I don’t consider my degree “worthless” at all or have any regret about it. The same critical thinking skills I learned how to exercise when analyzing literature are the same skills that make me effective at my job. Personally I think it’s fucked how much we devalue the humanities now because it’s not a “practical” degree.
