I am a long-time mantra meditator. A decent estimate of the Macklemore The Ben American rapper Macklemore Flyer Vintage T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this time I have spent in meditation is over 8000 hours. That being said I have never seen lights like many people in this subreddit have spoke of. I have entered into dream-like states where I am not here or even lucid dream-like states but never any lights to any degree. I just think its funny to see how many people have had it with some being short-term meditators. I know you are not suppose to compare but its funny. I even read once Swami Muktananda almost make fun of meditators who haven’t experience this as not really meditating. Could anyone share any light on this experience? I am also a very visual thinker so is this maybe getting in the way?Colors so deep they make you cry, fields of purple flowers, so many visions come up. Substantial words, teachings as well as if they are coming over a loudspeaker. These are all signs that your meditation is becoming still. You can be with these as long as they last but they usually don’t last long. When the mind really begins to go deeper, the giveaway is joy. This lasts a long time and should become your main focus. Over time, this joy will build until the mind can’t contain it and the joy turns into incredible light. This is called a nimitta. It can be large, small, still, moving, enveloping your entire mind, and this should then become your meditation object. There are signs that this is a true nimitta. It is recurring, and It lasts a long time, hours once the mind gets accustomed to it, and like a magnet, attracts the mind. The nimitta is the precursor of the jhanas; the deepest states of samadhi. Ajahn Brahm in Australia is an expert on nimittas and has written many books.

I get so confused with the Macklemore The Ben American rapper Macklemore Flyer Vintage T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this minor differences between these levels and samadhi. I used to have a TM teacher who was awesome but I wasn’t the biggest fan of the foundation. I have a teacher in mind and it’s probably time I seek him. I have had many visions but they aren’t consistent. Just for example, it is not like I see a yantra that I didn’t imagine and it constantly reappears. I have experienced the void with bliss but it has always been with the aid of something. From sensory deprivation tanks, ice baths or a microdose of mushrooms accompanying my mantra. It is probably time I seek a new teacher to speak about these varying details and to get guidance. You are really trying hard, and I admire you. One of the teachers I have complete confidence in is Ajahn Brahm. I trained with him for a little while in 1981 Thailand before he took over his Australian monastery. I would highly recommend his Book, “Mindfulness’, Bliss and Beyond – A Meditator’s Handbook.” I have been meditating close to fifty years now. I have never seen anything close to lights . I haven’t come across any subs either or I would of probably asked if they were on drugs. What I do know that a lot people on here expect instant gratification. I have tried to explain that with me it was a long slow process before I got to where I am . Which is place where I feel at peace with my self and others.
