I get migraines, Advil never helps whatsoever. Tylenol is well tolerated, but meds like ibuprofen (NSAIDs) are not necessarily completely harmless. They do have side effects and issues with their use, so they’re not good options for everyone. I will take acetaminophen for headaches and fever, ibuprofen for body aches. If I have a pain I don’t recognize I will not take anything at all until it goes away or gets worse and makes me seek medical attention, then the doctor will tell me if it’s safe to not feel that pain. I think pain is the body’s natural way of letting us know where a problem is and not to mind or ignore it. I don’t really like taking pain meds. I’ve either not felt any change in pain (so I risked side effects for no benefit) or it’s left me feeling incredibly woozy and awful to the point that I can’t function. If I can put up with the pain, I’d rather just deal with it. If I’m completely miserable anyway though, then I’ll take the risk.
