Adore needed to step away for her own mental health and well-being. It’s better to know your limits and step away from a situation that’s too overwhelming for you, rather than force yourself to stay and do something you know will hurt you later. I really respect Adore’s choice. I’m happy for anyone who can leave a situation that is affecting their mental health negatively. I’ve had to do it at a job before and it’s not an easy choice to come to. I can only imagine having to do while being filmed makes it worse. It was heartbreaking. She had so much to show, such a charismaric personality. It was a shame they broke her spirit, so I understand why she left. Honestly, I’m very pro-quitting if something is really fucking you up. I was so heartbroken for Adore and also proud that she knew enough about herself to walk away from something that was toxic for her.

I’m pretty sure she didn’t spend the anniversary of his death with her family because of filming, and that was a large part of her decision to leave that never made it into any of the show out of respect for her family’s privacy. Adore got an easy ride on S6. This does not mean it was easy per se: it was surely one of the most difficult things she has ever done… but that’s true of the entire cast. And in that context, Adore got a pretty easy run: she got squeezed around obstacles in the challenges, she got I-love-it-because-it’s-you praise for outfits that would have gotten other contestants read, she got an easy draw on challenge assignments (a live-singing rusical and rap for the girl groups, a ball where she basically just had to rhinestone something…), and she got main-character treatment in the edit. Compared to a Laganja Estranja (who got no advantages) or a Courtney Act (who got the “too polished, too professional, I’m bored with you being so good at drag, do worse but also better” treatment), Adore had a pretty easy run.
