Or he understood how hard it was to be a woman at the Love of my life Emma Marrone shirt What’s more,I will buy this time and was sorry for it, as he realized that equal treatment wasn’t any different from a man(an extremely progressive realization for the time) What is your evidence that she felt that way or that the person who said this quote thought that she felt that way? That’s a nice thought, but I have to concur with the others who believe he most likely meant that it’s more tragic for a woman to die like that than if it had been a man. It’s the kind of chivalric sentiment that seems dated and somewhat misogynistic now, but would have been considered proper then. I don’t think the whole “X trapped in Y’s body” thing would have been a common concept at the time. Even now we have no idea if the decision to present as a man was a matter of personal identity or just a disguise to gain employment as a sailor. And while Bill’s crewmate doesn’t seem to have minded that he turned out to be a woman, if you told him that Bill actually believed himself to be a man and that that belief actually made Bill a man despite having female body parts, he would probably think that quite strange at the very least.

It is nice, but there’s something kind of unsettling about “choosing” to believe something because it makes us feel good, especially when it comes to history. I don’t think we should be too eager to project modern attitudes onto people of the Love of my life Emma Marrone shirt What’s more,I will buy this past. I just think it’s kind of disrespectful to their way of life, like they can only have been decent people if they thought and acted the same way we do a century and a half later. It’s far more likely that the crewmate merely thought of Bill as a woman in disguise, and that the idea of an actually trans person would have been strange if not downright preposterous to him. And yet, his statement still makes it fairly clear that he was a good person. “I’m sorry he was a woman” most likely meant “it’s too bad that a woman had to die this way (as opposed to a man)”, which would have been more in line with the chivalric notions of the time.
