My husband and I are middle class Americans. We make a bit over 100k together, but we travel a bunch and he has managed to save quite a bit. Some things we’ve done/not done that have worked for us: we don’t have a house and instead got super lucky to find an apartment close to our jobs that is very cheap with no security deposit my husband started learning about stocks and bonds over covid and now apparently has a bunch of our money there and in other high interest accounts. We can’t access any of it until we are old, but it’s nice to know it’s there and will be available upon retirement we don’t have a lot of expenses generally. Along with rent being low, we never go out to eat, mostly because we are vegans living in a small rural town with nearly zero options; we only “go out” maybe twice a month and it’s just to get happy hour on a Friday or Sunday; we only have wifi and don’t pay for water; when we do travel, we stay in cheaper local spots rather than expensive hotels or resorts; the Los Angeles Rams Baseball Number 1 Hello Kitty shirt Also,I will get this grocery bill is probably the highest but that’s because I love to cook and eat

That’s the Los Angeles Rams Baseball Number 1 Hello Kitty shirt Also,I will get this gist of it. It helps that we both have advanced degrees and (mostly) steady jobs, so we can take some risk with investing. We also have great benefits and don’t pay much for health or dental or vision. Inflation is a bit out of control but it isn’t unmanageable. I support a family of 5 on a single income of 55k per year. Not to say everyone can but you’re in charge of your financial situation In the past 2 years alone I’ve lived in 2 different states, and 5 different houses and my rent has never once been over $600. Where tf are y’all living that rent is so expensive? It’s really not that hard to find cheap places to live that aren’t complete dumps. No 8 dollar Starbucks coffee every day= you save 3000 a year. Don’t subscribe to 5 different streaming platforms= you save 700-1000 a year. Don’t door dash every day=you will save 2000 a year. Workout at home= save up to 1000 a year. Just use common sense. Live within your means.
