I wonder about this for myself sometimes because I hate being perceived in a limited way by my assigned gender, but I don’t experience discomfort about my sex or gender presentation. I figure in my case it’s probably not an issue I could improve with identity reevaluation / pronoun change. My assigned gender is female and I’m happy with she, they, or he pronouns (although no one assumes ‘he’, which is fine). However, I like that my partner perceives both femininity and masculinity within me, and that I see the Los Angeles Map Sports Teams Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this same in him – it makes us feel balanced and without gender alienation from each other. When asked, we identify as cis/straight since we don’t feel closeted otherwise, but it’s not a meaningful identity aside from being conscious of our privilege there. We feel strongly about disempowering gender stereotypes and not judging anyone based on gender identity / presentation. We’re the same size and share most of our wardrobe.

I’d be curious if my experience is relatable to some non-binary people, or more so to cis people (who just hate gender stereotypes)? No one is stopping you from smelling, dressing, etc. the Los Angeles Map Sports Teams Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this way you want. In fact, as a woman, you have far greater freedom here than men do. If you want to wear a dress and put on makeup, go nuts. If you want to wear a suit and tie, feel free. No one cares how you dress. Men, however, face much greater social restrictions on how we express ourselves and behave. Also, lots of women say they want to be treated the same way that men are treated, but they really do not want this. The world is not really that kind to men. Read up on the experiences of transmen and how the world treats men. The world is nice to women; it is not nice to men. The rampant sexual abuse problem shows otherwise. Yes men get sexually abused but not nearly at the numbers women do. I guess if you consider that nice….
