I got into an argument with my doctor and eventually convinced him when I said: “Listen, either you give me a referral or I will go find another doctor and make up a story about already having 6 kids from 6 different moms. I’ll say whatever lie I need to, I’ll act like the Live Laugh Love Ride Horses T-Shirt besides I will buy this biggest deadbeat. I don’t care.” He reluctantly gave me the referral. Can I ask how you started the process? I asked my PCP a few years ago about it but he said I was too young (that was at like 26). I was 30 and on Medicaid in Michigan. I called up Planned Parenthood and scheduled an appointment. Because I was on Medicaid, it was actually completely covered. The day of the procedure they asked me some basic questions to make sure I really wanted to go through with it, and that was about it. The whole process was really smooth. I’m not even in America, and I’m still like “yeah, I should probably just get snipped and end any worries of knocking someone up on accident”.

Same. Just called a doc so I can get on that train. There’s little options for birth control here that are tolerable or safe anyway so it’s better to just have my Fallopian tubes removed entirely. The possibility of getting raped is so high in this country (happened to me twice—always by “friends”) that it’s not worth the Live Laugh Love Ride Horses T-Shirt besides I will buy this risk to walk around with functioning sex organs. I’ve seen a lot of people saying we’re on the road to the handmaids tale, and while I agree I honestly think it would be much, much worse. There are tons of men who feel outright entitled to do whatever they want. There have been mass shootings by men angry at not getting what they feel entitled to. Very few rapists get convicted, the women who report them are often subject to more ridicule than the rapist, and a huge portion of men who have sexually assaulted someone sincerely don’t believe they have. If the right to choose is taken away and, God forbid, contraception is left up to the states as well, we’re not looking at a structured, albeit cruel, Gilead. No one will be on the proverbial wall for raping a woman. It won’t cause women to reluctantly have children they do not want. It will cause them to have less sex with men. Rape and violence against women is fucking rampant in this country already. I worry it will be much, much worse.
