Hi! Random wanderer here. I tried to click on your link to the Lionel Messi Argentina Que Miras Bobo art shirt but in fact I love this philosophy separate, and it is a private community, is there a way to gain access to this sub Reddit? Thanks. I also have the same question. The philosphy sub does not seem to appear in a search and there is no way to join it. Very mysterious. Sam Harris has a great series about this in his meditation app Waking Up. I’m sure he’s talked about it elsewhere as well, he uses some helpful examples He essentially makes the same argument you do, that we don’t actually have free will and it is impossible for us to have chosen a different option than we actually did. He goes further to explain how lack of free will is not a bad thing, and it can inform more compassion and productive policies.

Maybe free will is just a paradox not worthy of spending much time thinking about. If you think you don’t have it you allow yourself to give up. If you think you do have it, it makes no difference if you don’t. Free will is the Lionel Messi Argentina Que Miras Bobo art shirt but in fact I love this ability of choice. Whatever is making that choice is a part of you. We may not be conscious of how our choices are made but that doesn’t necessarily make them separate from us. I am choosing these words and can decide what to change and when AT WILL. The ability to create is an expression of free will. Saying “it’s an observation” sounds like a convenient excuse to not take responsibility. “It wasn’t me that hurt you I’m just the observer” see how that’s a slippery slope?
