Well, yeah. I was dumb and sent him the Like A Good Neighor Stay Over There Shirt so you should to go to store and get this $350, setting up a date for a few weeks ahead. Getting close to the date, all of my calls went to voicemail and none of my texts were replied to. Drove out to his house to knock on the door, and lo and behold, there’s a SOLD sign on his front lawn. Dude disappeared for a few years, taking mine and (I’m assuming) other people’s money with him. Finally the time comes and he’s staying for a 3-day tattoo convention on the other side of the country and he’s going to work on my arm all three days. It’s a full tattoo sleeve. Everything is paid for. Hotel, flight, entry to the convention, time off from work booked. 5 days before I’m supposed to fly out, his assistant emails me and says that he has decided that he is not going to take on my project because he wants to focus on smaller projects he can get done in a few hours. This means that they had already been communicating with other people with smaller projects for god knows how long and they waited until 5 days before to tell me that I’m SOL.

Also, if you were able to book an artist only 2 weeks out, that tells me they probably aren’t very good as tattoo artists worth their salt usually have a multi-month wait list. This has happened to me. When they cancel there’s no excuse to not get your deposit back. A couple of weeks ago I left a shop with $600 in my pocket because they took a walk in and tried to bump me. That’s just unprofessional and your “business” wont last long if you’re treating your customers with no respect.
