Not wanting to listening to expert advice to such an extent as not even wanting to take a few acetaminophen or naproxen, I have you say that’s pretty weak. I mean, that same expert advice has given us such wonderful hits as: “smoke cigarettes, they are good for you” and made Tylenol an over the Life Is Better With Rick Music Springfield T-Shirt in other words I will buy this counter drug despite it being incredibly poisonous and somehow still a placebo for pain lol I recently heard that if acetaminophen were presented to the FDA today it would not be approved and that freaks me out a bit. I’m really judicious when it comes to medicine, only taking it when it’s absolutely necessary. If the pain/sickness is bacterial in origin, excessive antibiotic use can result in bacteria developing antibiotic resistance. There are various online resources explaining why this is detrimental. Some medicines may damage different body parts as “side effects”. By opting not to take the medicine and enduring discomfort, you avoid the potential harm that may come from medication.

But of course, sometimes it is necessary to take medicine. I’m not advocating never taking medicine, just urging thoughtful consideration rather than blindly taking it without any forethought. I can be in pain but still do the things I need to do, so it’s usually fine. It’s weird – when I’m in pain, painkillers don’t usually come to mind until the pain has been going on for some time. I’ll lay down, switch positions, take a hot shower, sit on the toilet, etc. for 30-60 minutes before I remember, “Oh yeah, I could take an acetaminophen.” If I’m having a recurring pain over several days, then maybe I’ll think of it right away. But like others have said, I start worrying about building up tolerance, so I try to space out the dosage as much as possible.
