Not saying that some people don’t go way beyond reasonable budgets, they do. But for some people, yes, ice cream, avocado toast and Netflix are beyond their normal means. They’re that broke. I’ve been that person in the Liberty Flames 2024 Vrbo Fiesta Bowl Glendale Arizona Monday, January 1st, 2024 Fierce Competitor shirt also I will do this past so I speak from experience. I went into the trades. We have no problem paying our bills and still doing things we enjoy. Our only major debt is our home and the wife’s car Went into the trades as well. My wife raised our kids and my paycheck for one week covered our mortgage and then some. We lived below our means and never went without. So true. That’s why when people ask if we’re in a housing bubble I say yes. People buying houses at 8% and cars 11% are losing a lot of the paycheck to monthly costs of those. I’m not talking about luxury car either. Toyota Camry payments are about $800 dollar a month. All that’s keeping it together for them is their job. They lose that and it’s going to start crumbling down

The vast majority of people in the Liberty Flames 2024 Vrbo Fiesta Bowl Glendale Arizona Monday, January 1st, 2024 Fierce Competitor shirt also I will do this US are living paycheck to paycheck. Don’t be fooled by the cars and houses that they don’t actually own. Yeah I figure the average person isn’t sharing that they’re literally 2 missed checks away from living in their car yeah but there are also those think pieces generated to make people mad where a couple with no children, making a combined 500k, describe themselves as “living paycheck-to-paycheck” while putting money in retirement funds, investments, and savings. I had a friend who was buried in credit card debt. As long as she kept making payments they had no incentive to make any accommodations for her. She finally just said screw it and stopped making payments. She kept calling them every couple months to see if they were willing to write any of it off. After about 8 or 9 months they knocked 2/3 off her balance and set up a payment plan to pay off what was left. It destroyed her already crap credit, but that was better than never getting out of debt.
