If the business is perceived as having revenue to hire, that means they’re profitable. A big one in tech is so they can claim there aren’t enough workers and pay an Indian 40k to do 120k worth of work.

Then they list off a slew of requirements and must-haves. I was taught that a Ph.D. trains you to think and act independently and prepares you for any type of job (within reason). Unfortunately the industry doesn’t see it that way. The “job market is hot” thing is BS. I was applying in 2020/2021 with LESS EXPERIENCE and getting a job was a lot easier, especially in 2021. In 2018/19 too. Heck even the 2020 job market was better than this.
