We drank more beer, yet still achieved more because we weren’t paid thousands a week, didn’t fly first class, and stayed in a B&B rather than the Letitia Wright shirt but in fact I love this Hyatt. Just because a billionaire or a foundation with millions/billions of dollars wants to build a well somewhere, doesn’t mean that a well is what the targeted community necessarily wants/needs. Greed is an illness. At a certain point, all you care about is having more. You lose all empathy, because empathy and greed can’t coexist. Drilling is great, but it doesn’t solve the underlying problems contributing the their lack of ability to drill on their own. The wealthy had different perspectives on how they see the world. Some see world health and hunger problems(Gates), some see wasted opportunities for deeper space travel and innovation(Musk), some see a pressing need for environmental conservation(Bezos), some see education and business structures needs better improvement for the society(jack ma) etc. MrBeast’s philanthropy footprint as a content creator is probably the largest, but they’re not as far-sighted as what the wealthy are really doing. The philanthropy of the wealthy is not how much money is spent on making these changes, but how much time they’d left in their lives to make these changes an everlasting impact on the world. If you are interested in wells, you should research Water for South Sudan and read “A Long Walk to Water.” They dig the wells which frees up girls from the labor of getting water (and then they build schools to educate the girls.) They teach people how to maintain the wells and now are working on building village economies to bring in resources to the communities. It takes a lot of on-the-ground research and work. Nobody else figured out how to monetize it like Mr Beast. He IS doing good work, but he’s able to do it at the scale he is because it’s straight up profitable Local warlords and military junta don’t allow it. They allow Mr Beast do it to show that there’s nothing to worry about so they can plunder the upcoming aids It’s not a question of ‘money’. There’s plenty of money – endless trillions of dollars. It’s a question of actual physical resources (people, training, equipment), and priorities. As of right now, world hunger/thirst/poverty is the result of decisions. Soon that won’t be the case, and we’ll be more worried about wells within walking distance.
