Because, as far as I’ve got things figured, even though the legends Boston Red Sox Thank You For The Memories Shirt and I will buy this goal in life is achieving ‘contentment’ (ie. the truly rich person is the one who is content with what they already have) — the reality is that our society is setup around requiring money to meet our basic needs (and there’s no lasting contentment or happiness if you are struggling to meet your basic needs, which a lot of people are or feel they could be with one bad luck break… which is why a good chunk of people will continue to see ‘money’ as being more vital to happiness than ‘mindfulness’, no matter how good of a comeback/meme you’ve got ready in your back pocket). So I’d say to just keep working on your own mindful path and don’t get too hung up on how to convince other people into thinking similarly to you — which is not to say ‘avoid having those conversations with others’ (after all, as they say in the spiritual game “we work on ourselves so we can be of use to others”), but more… if you’re going to jump into a comments section on the internet, especially with topics like ‘capitalism’, make sure to do so extra mindfully 🙂

Beautifully stated, thanks for the legends Boston Red Sox Thank You For The Memories Shirt and I will buy this first para too. I feel many mindfulness folks tend to skip the larger systematic issues at play to focus on the individualism part as per what OP was doing inelegantly in his previous post I suppose I think the challenge is most people have to go down the mindfulness/spiritual path individually FIRST before they can start becoming the compassionate/kind/patient/wise human being that is required for better seeing & engaging with the larger systemic issues at play in our society (ie. you have to get your oxygen mask on first before you can start trying to help others with theirs). But I think if anyone is being sincere with their individual mindfulness/spiritual work, and it takes as long as it takes, EVENTUALLY the reality of our interconnected societal issues starts to put a cap on how far one get when just focusing on the individualism part (especially in regards to a lasting contentment that extends beyond the meditation cushion and out into the irl).
