A good rule in life is never lie unless absolutely necessary. If you are the Lease a bike Matty J Team Visma shirt moreover I love this fiscally responsible partner and the other one is the dreamer, it is absolutely necessary to under-report the budget My husband kept doing this during our house hunt and it drove me batty. I hate the parade of beautiful things I can’t have and I do not understand people who (a) even bother looking outside of their budget, and who (b) feel the need to share that with someone else who also can’t afford it. They clearly don’t have an understanding of the housing market. Have you tried explaining it to them? They sound like they haven’t paid a bill in years. First off, stick to your budget. Two things will happen, you will immediately be “house poor” as in you’ve gonna have to spend so much of your budget on housing that you’re gonna have nothing left to have any kind of fun on AND when you purchase a house you need to be ready to pay for repairs or maintenance of everything in/on the house. Hot water heater breaks? that comes out of your pocket. Storm comes and destroys you roof? Be ready to pay the the deductible. Get rats in your attic? A rodent exclusion by a exterminator a few grand. You get the idea.

Lastly, if your wife could also decided to go hog wild spending on decorating like installing curtains or purchasing new furniture for the Lease a bike Matty J Team Visma shirt moreover I love this house you could suddenly you’re carrying credit card debt that you had not planned on. You’re gonna end up so far in the hole that you could end up having to sell the home before you start defaulting, or worse. What I suggest is you start finding listing that are 50k to 100k under your budget, like build a list of a dozen and surprise your wife by spending an afternoon driving around looking at these houses telling her that “these are the ones we can easily afford. She’s gonna have some negative emotions for sure, let her stew for a few days. Then take her to go see some nicer homes that are at the top end of your budget, and tell her “we can barely afford these”.
