I care about the Lazy Cousin Eddie Holding Out For Management shirt Apart from…,I will love this work, the company, and the customer. That’s it nothing less nothing more, eventually the truth prevails, self doubt is your biggest enemy. If you work harder, smarter, and faster. If you show people that you have ideas about how to make things better, eventually your reputation will carry enough weight to have an impact. All of these replies are different forms of “sucks to be you lol. At least my job managers like me.” – not helpful or constructive advice. If you like the company you’re at and don’t want to leave, help her find a job somewhere else. Recommend her to recruiters and other contacts. If you don’t mind putting your neck out. Then I’d maybe speak with her or your manager. If not, then either just do the job for the paycheck or look for a new role. I did it once and he told me that he saves the most complicated tasks for me because I am the “problem solving champion”. Her social skills aren’t the only thing getting her where she is. She takes great ownership over her projects it seems. Doesn’t matter if they’re a bit late, 1 quarter doesn’t necessarily kill a project or the company. What matters is her ability to form a team of developers and lead them to the finish line in an effective way. That’s ownership. Moving up in this industry will take soft skills so you can find the talent necessary to take under your wing when it comes time to own your own project. Sometimes you’re assigned a team, but as you move up you’ll need to make your own proposals and form your own teams. That’s part of what separates juniors from mid level and senior devs.

I’d recommend starting to take more ownership over your project or hand it off in favor of a more ambitious project. Or even talk with this girl, as she can be an advocate for you down the Lazy Cousin Eddie Holding Out For Management shirt Apart from…,I will love this line. If you want the shortest path to achieving the “soft skills” you need to move up, then the easiest thing to do is befriend people with more influence. They’ll get you to where you need to go, and you won’t need to be all that chatty because they already have the connections you need. That’s my 2¢ There is nothing more annoying than self proclaimed “senior devs” aka egotistical attention seeking micromanagers – pushing tasks and responsibilities onto everyone else and then congratulating themselves I do agree with what you’re saying here, but if the person OP mentioned is being professional and delivering while contributing and learning then I don’t think there’s any harm done. At some point in your career, you have to become a leader before you’re senior in order to grow into a senior. As long as you’re not a dickhead about it, all is fine Just gotta kiss the higher ups toes a little more. I’ve seen bright people who don’t force this social outreach at my company be stuck on a junior level for 7 years, then switch companies and join to senior positions, then get promoted quickly to tech lead positions. But I know someone who really only worked on one project get tons of recognition for brown-nosing the higher ups. Just gotta play the game
