I think you have this backwards, either that or I’m reading you wrong. The goal for an card counter is to bet high when blackjacks are more likely, because losing to a blackjack only loses you 1x what you bet, while winning a blackjack wins you 1 and a half times what you originally bet. All the other hands are just noise, ignore every other hand that isn’t a blackjack on either side because they’re actually slight losses in the long run. Imagine a blackjack game where the only cards were 10s and aces. Most hands would end in a 20 vs 20 push, the house would get half the blackjacks (causing the player to lose 1x their bet), but the player would ALSO get half the blackjacks, winning 1.5x their bet. It’s 3:2 blackjack that gives card counters our edge, which is why we bet higher when there’s more 10s and aces in the shoe.
