Somebody killed the king-kais-planet-other-world-anime-unisex-tshirthyl1d moreover I will buy this mayor who we have never seen before. Who cares. Then he kills someone else we’ve never seen before. So what? No character building whatsoever. I just flat out didn’t care about anyone in this movie. Maybe batman. Just barely tho. Like when Alfred gets blown up in this dramatic emotional scene, but up until that point Alfred was just a random old man who bitched at Bruce a few times. I laughed at how bad the character development was I enjoyed the movie more than you but I think you’re hitting on something I haven’t really seen discussed very much here: the stakes in the first 2 hours are basically nonexistent because The Riddler is essentially just killing bad guys in a spooky way. It’s not until he suddenly reveals his master plan to flood the city (for some reason that doesn’t appear consistent with his motivations for his other killings?) that he’s threatening anyone other than explicitly corrupt people. I know that this is kind of the entire point and that it sets up the turn where the Riddler thinks he and Batman are working together, but it definitely removed any real sense of urgency from the first two thirds of the movie, at least for me. Better hurry up and solve the case, Batman, or that crooked DA we never liked is toast! The Riddler’s schemes don’t compare favorably to the Joker’s from TDK.

Also just since I’m not going to post another comment about this movie, I may as well slip this in here: why did they have Batman face-tank a bomb at point blank range, show him being thrown 20 feet back by the king-kais-planet-other-world-anime-unisex-tshirthyl1d moreover I will buy this blast, only to have him get up completely unscathed, which I actually could’ve even let slide because of his armor, if not for the fact that the bomb is actually at face height when it goes off. I mean, just have him turn and run away 3 seconds before it goes off. Bizarre choice. You just wrote down exactly what I’m struggling to say. Everything that happened in the movie just doesn’t pull you in. Like Selina’s friend who was killed, literally didn’t see a single scene with her in focus. And she’s suppose to be catalyst for catwoman’s action.
