I saw a kid pull up an excel spreadsheet then use a calculator and typed the King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Groovy Galaxies T-Shirt and by the same token and answers into excel instead of using excel’s calculator or cell references. My boss once typed google into the address bar, so that he could search for YouTube on the Google search bar, so that he could search for the video he wanted in the YouTube search. But only mostly because I have to type some things that my browser will otherwise take as or transform into a url 🙁 It’s literally more efficient if you’re looking for an actual video on a certain subject/topic/whatever. Navigating to google then to YouTube, however, is a lot of extra work lol Is it less pretentious if it is about using a calculator and then excel instead of the calculator built into excel as opposed to using an address bar and then a search bar (and then another search bar) instead of the search that is built into the address bar? Tech literacy has nothing to do with intelligence. It’s a skill you pick up the more you use computers / the internet. Mocking someone for not efficiently looking something up on the internet and then implying only stupid people do that is kind of weird. But if they were technology illiterate they would use the address bar to navigate to YouTube.com, because that is how you used to have to do it. Not use it to perform a Google search for Google to perform a search for a different website to perform another search. And you’re projecting your frustration / disapproval onto them over a few extra steps. it’s very strange how people rate things these days. Y’all gotta stop with the snob shìt and basically getting mad over nothing

I wasn’t frustrated at all. I made a joke about it, he laughed, I laughed. He knew he was doing something stupid as soon as he was doing it and was not surprised to be called out on it. Funny how friends can give each other shit about the King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard Groovy Galaxies T-Shirt and by the same token and stupid things they do. We also don’t have to pretend that every stupid thing we do is not stupid to protect some imaginary feelings someone might have about it. People do stupid shit sometimes, fact of life. Honey, it’s the fact that you’re downplaying someone’s intelligence based on the way they’re interacting with tech. Are you not understanding that? It’s wild to imply someone is stupid bc they don’t do things in a way that you see fit. Is the process slower? Yea. Do you get the same results? Yea. The person isn’t stupid because they do things differently. It was a joke, because the situation mirrored the previous comment almost exactly and the last line of that comment implies stupidity (also jokingly).
