The poise system doesn’t seem to actually do anything. With 0-50 poise my broadsword continued to be interrupted by the King arrested for loitering 1958 ronald wimberly the new yorker shirt and by the same token and slightest breeze, yet at around 15 the great sword seemed to be unstoppable. While I get the concept of momentum actually accounting for a huge degree of this, it doesn’t feel like the enemies have to share the poise system. Why does a dude in a robe have more poise than me in metal armor? At the Haligtree especially it became super noticeable how even the smaller guys would often get to complete whole animations through an onslaught of blows; whereas, the lightest tap seems to break the poise of almost all armor sets. While my numbers may be off, haven’t touched the game since I beat it, it really stood out to me as a point of annoyance. Back in D1 you could poise through all sorts of nonsense, but I am not necessarily saying that is a perfect system. Rather, I would like a number that starts at 0 to mean something, so when I put on armor with plenty of poise it actually DOES something. Baldachin’s Blessing and the Physick can give you extra poise too, but I’d have appreciated being able to poise through some of the lower-impact attacks the game throws at you regardless of animation (regular wooden arrows should not stun a fully-armored knight, right?) Side note: too many NPC types can dodge out of hitstun/stunlock with a huge dodge. The black knife assassin’s were the poster child of this for me.
King arrested for loitering 1958 ronald wimberly the new yorker shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt
There’s a lot of idiotic unnecessary confirmation of actions. Besides the King arrested for loitering 1958 ronald wimberly the new yorker shirt and by the same token and horse and the stone sword keys, it’s always annoyed me that from games ask “are you SURE you want to use the upgrade material for you flask, which has no other ingame purpose, to upgrade your flask?” C’mon, a little common sense please. Too many places you explore that do have loot only give you something near-useless, like flowers or butterflies. Rune consumables that you find around the world do not scale up with New Game iterations. A Rune (1) is next to nothing even in my second playthrough, unless I have 20+ of them and want to use it to buy items. There are a lot of recycled bosses in Elden Ring: Tree Avatars, Putrid Wyrms, Dragons, and Death Birds being some of the main ones. Each of these were awe inspiration and heart-pounding to begin with, but ended up being damage / skill checks / an obstacle to run around. I don’t think that putting two of these next to each other makes for an interesting encounter.
