The ugly truth is NCLB, standardized testing, and tying funding to all the Kevin Hart Act My Age Tour 2024 Shirt Also,I will get this bullshit data points has ruined education in the U.S. A fun byproduct is societal push and acceptance of parents as friends who believe they have no control or recourse over their own children. I was going through some old papers at my parents house over the weekend. My mom keeps all of our stuff including old homework assignments lol. I just have to say that I was shocked reading some of my papers from second grade because my handwriting and general writing skill were exponentially better than the students I teach now who are the same age and older. Disagree on research skills. In two hours they can find the answers to the Chem homework, which would have taken them 20 minutes to work.

And yet, in my state the Kevin Hart Act My Age Tour 2024 Shirt Also,I will get this standardized tests are still ludicrously hard. Like, honors level material and I’m supposed to get them to pass. How??? Districts are all about “rigor” and “high expectations” but we can’t get kids to learn to read. My 5th graders are tested on Renaissance artists(new ELA curriculum) but can’t read at a 2nd grade level. It’s so ridiculous. We’re supposed to make the curriculum accessible to everyone. How?!? It’s rather scary to learn that my severely autistic kid with a learning disability is actually doing significantly better than the general population you’re describing. I’m not even that great of a parent, I’d consider myself low-average, but all of my son’s teachers love me because I do basic things like get him on the bus on time and follow through with discipline at home. Is that really exceptional these days? It’s below basic from my perspective. I’m an elementary music teacher, so some of the words that I teach, I expect errors. Music uses a lot of Italian words, so I grade assignments gently. However, the words students ask for help on are not “forte”, “piano”, “crescendo”, and so on… I had a third grader ask me how to spell “help”. Several fifth graders gave me “konsrt revew” instead of “concert review”. And the handwriting is practically illegible, even in fifth graders. As a first year teacher, it made me so sad. I remember handwriting being a grade when I was a kid. I remember spelling tests each week on vocab words. I don’t know if times have changed or what. I hope it can get better.
