The other problem with a bunch of well-intentioned concealed-carry folks attempting to return fire is that innocent people are now in the Kentucky Wildcats vs. Louisville Cardinals Drink em’ under the table shirt besides I will buy this middle of a gun battle. Most gun owners don’t practice shooting at moving targets with innocent people scattered about. Hey I just want everyone to be aware of what the other side is saying about this: they are using it as a taking point to militarize the police even further, claiming that police don’t currently have the tools and resources to respond to such incidents. And what did the police do when the Maine Shooter’s command reached out stating “He is a danger to himself and others”? That shooting at the Texas mall, that started and ended in like four minutes total. Cop was right there and responded immediately. Credit where credit is due, THAT cop was a straight up hero. Chased the fucker down and put him down without a moment’s hesitation.

That’s about as good a response as you can possibly get. The fuck kind of equipment would have made that outcome better? Some people man, I swear to gods. Considering the Kentucky Wildcats vs. Louisville Cardinals Drink em’ under the table shirt besides I will buy this patrol officer had an AR-15 (if it’s the one I’m thinking of), as most do, I’d say they are plenty militarized. There’s really nothing else that they could carry in their patrol car on a daily basis to make it better, with the exception of a throw-on vest that has plates and a ballistic helmet. I mean fuck it, let’s just give them laser designators to call in Hellfire strikes from RQ-4s rocking “POLICE” liveries orbiting every major city, right? lol. Honestly I wouldn’t even be bothered if they carried sub-machine guns openly like they do in Europe, but that’s never what this is about. There’s no specific gear they want. They just want more money. They’ll embezzle it, they’ll waste it, but mostly they just want bigger budgets for more pay and more overtime and more cruisers . They’ll use every mass shooting to push for those things, knowing that even doubling the size of the PD wouldn’t make a difference in mass shootings. What are they expecting? A Minority Report style police force? It was a drive-by… not much that tools/resources could have done to prevent it. SWAT teams are already using the Boston dynamics robot dogs, handheld drones etc, they have MRAPS and armored cars, assault rifles more commonly distributed within a police force. I don’t know what they’re missing besides specialized training for community outreach/mental health calls Police funding seems to always go up. It’s crazy what percentage of most municipal budgets goes just to policing. Every time anything happens, the answer is to throw more money at police, but they never seem to ask why doing that doesn’t actually lead to prevention.
