You have been accused of “not handling cash well”. I doubt this is what they have recorded on your file as it also makes no sense. Yeah i feel like something is missing here, because to me this reads as, “customer paid for items, then returned them later”. I don’t see where the Kenny Pickett Signature American football quarterback Pittsburgh Stance T-Shirt in addition I really love this link is to this person being at fault for anything Yeah, doesn’t make sense to me either. She told me I should’ve called a manager as well to count large sums of money. Also wondering this, I used to work M&S and everything over £250 had to be dual counted and you would occasionally get a bit of a moan from the manager/a warning if you forgot. I’d say there’s likely nothing will come of it this time for OP but in future just call the manager for larger amounts – it’s no big deal in the grand scheme of things. You put up with worse in retail than the double counting rule. Malicious compliance. Get the manager anytime it’s more than 20. When they tell you that amount is too all, do it at 50. Then 100. Keep going in increments of 50 until they either nail it down in policy or remember that they sell big ticket items on the regular and drop it. Fair enough, so you could understand being written up for accepting £300 in that situation, but OP hasn’t said. If there is no policy then it would be punitive. Yeah if there’s no policy or the policy hasn’t been communicated that it’s the managers problem not the employees. In the situation I mentioned above, all new starters had the training within their first few days. Double count the notes over 250 and check them with the special pen for fakes. Check £50s for fakes etc. But yeah, I’ve worked other stores with no such rules in which case the manager has probably gotten flustered and is blaming anyone but themselves.
