Take full heads of garlic, chop off the Keith Ilustrasion Vektor 80s Christmas shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this non-root end of the heads. You don’t need to really even peel it, just get the loose top layers off. Place in aluminum foil and coat with olive oil. Close foil around cloves tightly (I like to double wrap) and place in oven at 350-400F for an hour-ish. It’s that simple, and your house will smell like absolute heaven while the garlic is in the oven lol. It’s a really easy way to make bitchin garlic butter for a few min of prep if you have time. And the butter can be used for a lot of things, like mashed potatoes. I made a loaf like this two weeks ago. It was absolutely amazing. My wife said I smelled like garlic for days afterward. I saw one video that made a garlic spread for toasting in a flat pan that had honey, Minced garlic, mayo and parsley… looks gawddamn delicious. What’s oven temp and time? I always microwave cloves for like 15 seconds then peel them, then cut and cook in butter in a saucepan. I put it in my OP, but I usually do it at 350-400F for an hour at minimum. The cook time is pretty forgiving, though. If you need more time to prep other parts of the meal, you can let it go a bit longer. Just make sure you have it wrapped up nice and tight to keep the moisture in. I’m telling you dude, I’ve done it like you have. It doesn’t compare. Roasting it over a longer period with olive oil really brings out the best in flavor and aroma. Try it, you will be a convert haha.

Your technique is spot on, but that’s way too hot for me. 350° for like 45 minutes is perfect. Soft garlic without worrying about burning it. The other 2 comments are spot on, just chiming in that I personally do this with a bulb when I’ve got the Keith Ilustrasion Vektor 80s Christmas shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this oven running for something else even if I’m not going to immediately use the roasted garlic. It’ll last in a sealed container for a week or two. Just don’t do it when you’re baking sweet stuff. Roasting a chicken? Bulb. Bread? Bulb. Pizza? Bulb. Ribs? Bulb (even at the lower temp just for longer time). That said I’m in Central Florida so running the oven for an hour is unnecessary heat inside for just a bulb of roasted garlic. It could be a perk in colder areas. Right?! I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. There is nothing satisfying about this stupid trend of 50 jump cuts in 10 seconds. It’s the, “Whoa! Radical! Thumbs up! guitar solo” of this generation of media, and can’t be phased out soon enough.
