55k for ~40 engineers you guys are getting ripped off, we just buy from dell, 27 inch monitors for 600 shipped. We don’t deal with wfh, but distribution is as simple as telling people to go pickup their new monitors from wherever shipping dropped the Keeping It Reel Fishing shirt but in fact I love this palates of them. We have 300 sw guys, I’m pretty sure we paid under 200k for all of them to get updated. Also why on earth even deal with the old monitors, sounds like you guys are very poor and inefficient at your jobs. Extra monitors will get used somewhere by someone they diffuse through the system, lab pc’s get them, they are used in guest offices/cubes. Do you guys reuse keyboards and mouses? It’s not even penny wise frankly to inventory anything outside the actual pc or laptop, maybe a docking station if it’s actually expensive.

Accounting and HR already have three monitors but that’s because HR made a deal with the Keeping It Reel Fishing shirt but in fact I love this dark powers to route discretionary spending to them in exchange for favorable journal entries. I agree. We pay people in IT so much, but we want to save peanuts by giving them crappy tools? It makes no sense. Google software developers earn hundreds an hour. Giving each them a $1,000 cheaper laptop (to save costs) would cost the company lots more in time waiting for programs to load and compile. Software developer is not the same as IT. IT is the group that assists the organization in setting up and maintaining their digital (and physical in terms of computers and computer related hardware) infrastructure. Software developers build and maintain tools and software for both internal/external customers to generate revenue and streamline business processes.
