When i am at dinner i am not at al paying attention to other tables unless they are louder then the KC Merry And Bright Football shirt it is in the first place but base of people and making a scene of themselves. If i do see you holding hands i don’t care and think nothing about it. I’m not a homophobe the love is equal. So yeah nothing out of the ordinary goes thru my mind. I have several gay couples in my friendship group ( mainly men) and we talk openly about pretty much everything. Despite this I have to admit that seeing a homosexual couple in public being affectionate kind of sticks out to me because it’s so rare you see it. I become self conscious because I don’t wanna give off the vibe that it’s anything ‘special’. And I guess this makes me think I wish it was more common so it wouldn’t stick out anymore. Does this make sense? I feel happy that they aren’t afraid to express their love that just a short time ago was illegal and could get them killed. And still is that way in many places, unfortunately. But yeah, just really happy for them.

Personally if I ever look, look away, then look back, it’s because I don’t want to be perceived as staring nor avoidant, so I’m awkward on what to do about it. Not sure what to do about that unfortunately. Fellow southerners I guess I think subconsciously I’m more likely to notice a gay couple than a straight couple just because it’s not very often you see two men being open about their relationship in a public setting. If there’s excessive PDA I think to myself that it’s gross, just like I would for a lesbian or heterosexual couple. But just holding hands, or hugging, or like one kiss I usually just think “oh okay”, and keep moving on with my business As with most “controversial” things, it is a small noisy minority maintaining the controlversy. The inmense majority of people fits in the “good for you” and “I don’t care”.
