You just don’t buy other things. Haven’t bought a single video game this year. I don’t have any subscription services especially since YouTube premium increased the Kamron Killa Mikell Graphic shirt But I will love this cost. Don’t eat out. We cut the landline to the house and now only have one cellphone and Internet. This year we’re going to lower the thermostat to 16 all winter, down from 18. We’re both professionals and supposed to be retired, but I keep working because we just won’t be able to function on our retirement income… I dread the day when my health catches up to me and I won’t be able to work. The fuck am I supposed to do then? Sell the house I suppose, but ain’t no rent anywhere nearby that’s cheaper than our mortgage payments. The struggle is real, real. I’m scraping by. No savings. Paycheck to paycheck. Bills are paid and I guess that’s all that matters. I own a house and even with my mortgage abd utitues in half I still don’t have much money left over due to medical bills. I am the same way: like a gold fish growing to fill its container, my expenses grow to fill my entire income. Until I started budgeting. I use YNAB and it really helps me see how much money I am spending. The basic idea is that when you get your pay check you allocate every dollar for something: bills, groceries, hobbies, clothes, home improvement, savings etc. whenever you spend money you put it in the app, choose the amount, payee, category and it tells you how much you have left in that category. It will make you much more aware of how much you have. Of course this only helps if you’re currently just throwing money around without much regard for where it goes.

I learned a trade and traveled when I needed to. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to afford much of anything.
