TLDR: Dysfunctional people hide behind “understandable” sticking points like food so they can get their jollies by bullying kids. It’s really easy to see when they have tucked in and legitimately got full, versus picking at it it, eating around the Justin Jefferson Mr. Griddy Signature Hit ’em With Football T-Shirt and by the same token and plate, not touching new foods, getting distracted etc. If they haven’t made a good effort we don’t force them, but tell them there’s nothing else later if they get hungry that’s on them. Does not teach kids to look forward to eating or enjoy food, and 100% sets them up for problems later in life when they’ve packaged up a bunch of negative feelings with mealtimes. I was that kid who was forced to eat portions too big than I could stomach. I was (still am) a very slow eater, and I would get hit for not eating fast enough. Now that I have a toddler of my own, I am taking a completely different approach during meal times. We haven’t introduced junk food to her yet, so we don’t struggle with her only wanting junk food. When we eat, I would give her smaller portions, and if she finishes and wants more, then I would replenish her plate. There are some days when kids will eat a lot, and there are some days when they don’t eat much. > What’s the point? Kids are spanked, yelled at, belittled, and forced to sit at the table all night until they can force down the hours old, cold food.

I still remember saying I didn’t like something to my dad at the Justin Jefferson Mr. Griddy Signature Hit ’em With Football T-Shirt and by the same token and dinner table and him breaking my plate with all the food over his leg. Because most of thé Time they are falling not liking it to have something else, since it works with their dad.
