(just saying this because the Just Pray Shirt also I will do this title implies the App is “at fault”. Had the tilte been “someone is investigating the impact of an App” instead of “faces investigation”, I’d have ignored it instead) Yeah but I think the bigger problem is that it’s advertised everywhere and you have to realize that the average person/kid/parent is not exactly the brightest. I’d consider this similar to regulating unhealthy foods in the sense that if you advertise McDonald’s everywhere subsidize its cost so it’s super cheap and promote it as a household standard when it comes to eating meals then of course the average person is going to probably indulge themselves way too much. The other issue is that we’re a democracy and there is no huge regulatory system that keeps dumb people from voting for dumb policies. So as you allow humans to indulge more and more into selfish causes it’s human nature that we just will. Also not to go down a conspiracy Lane but China definitely has a 100-year plan when it comes to the future of China. Developing their own youth to be smart and healthy and meanwhile providing something for the rest of the world to make sure that they are dumb and unhealthy is something I wouldn’t put below them as part of that 100 year plan.

But bad food IS, objectively, bad for your health (verifiable by checking the Just Pray Shirt also I will do this “recipe” of the product, by scientific studies etc..). This App is BEING USED badly. Those are two different thing. In the end, if the App slams down on violent/criminal behaviour (ban lynching challenges, destructions of property etc ..) AND there are legal repercussions (doesn’t matter if they are minors, a crime is a crime) then the problem will go away by itself. Unless your education system, at home or at school, sucks: they are the problem, not the 3rd party App kids use. Torrenting is legal, but it is mostly used for illegal purposes (pirating). You don’t punish the softwares, you punish the pirates. You can ask TikTok to be blokced for minors and ban locally illegal acts but that’ll require a lot more moderation (and even personal infos from the user, which you never want to give to China lol) and would only slow down the process. Instead, perpetrators of criminal “challenges” must face serious consequences. People/kids nor being “the brightest” is a proof of poor education (bad morals, lack of common sense etc…), but NOT an excuse.
