In the Just A Simple American Nurse Happy 4th Of July shirt besides I will buy this case of the tractor company. The company went pretty crazy after the old man left. They are now involved in a lawsuit over holding their customers hostage over repairs. I think this is a really powerful argument. Whatever business they built, they’re AWESOME at it. People look up to them. They have put years of work into it and now they’re seeing the results of that work. It’s difficult to walk away from that. After all, they know they’re awesome at what they’re doing now, maybe they won’t be awesome at relaxing. Maybe they won’t enjoy it. Why not stick with what’s working? I think they see it more like a game for bragging rights. There’s basically no difference in your life between having 100 million and a billion, but once you have the ball rolling, why not keep benefitting? We all have it. Once you achieve something, it’s on to the next. We are never ‘done’ or wholly satisfied. It’s the human condition.

Right, it’s never enough. What’s funny is that even lower wages fit into that. I had a friend for years, who was generally a good person, but had this one annoying flaw. She’d say “I make good money now, if I made more, I’d give most of it to charity, because what I have now is enough.” But you know what happened? She went from saying that at $30,000, to saying it at 40k, to 50k, and was still saying it at 120k. No matter how much she made, she always needed a bit more for herself before it was “enough” that she had extra to give away. It’s a much smaller version of what happens to a lot of us. No matter how much you have, you always want a little more. So sure, you have a mansion, and a vacation home on a lake, and a few cars, and great clothes. But… you have a LAKE house. You don’t have one on the Just A Simple American Nurse Happy 4th Of July shirt besides I will buy this ocean yet, and wouldn’t that be great? And sure, you fly first class a lot, but not ALL the time, and you have a wife and kids, they need to always fly first class too, right? And your kids should probably be members of the country club too. And you have a yacht, but your buddy Jim just got a new yacht, and it’s awesome, even has a hot tub, maybe you need a new one too. And look at the competing law firm down the street. Sure, you make plenty of money, but did you hear how much Sally makes now?? I mean, shouldn’t you make that much too?? And what’s up with the bonuses the other firm is giving? Not fair that they get that kind of bonus while your firm doesn’t, so you’re going to change that, you need that kind of bonus too. Maybe you don’t need that money, but it’s the principle of it, right??
