I’m very much an introvert. I’m a supervisor at work – I’m chatty and social with coworkers (I have to be), but I can’t vent to coworkers, and I can’t be “me” to coworkers because I have to be “professional me,” which isn’t really me. I do not socialize with coworkers outside of work – it would not be appropriate in my position. My family is wonderful – but let’s face it, there are some things that you just can’t talk to your mother or your children about. I’m very comfortable in my own skin, I’m confident, I’m well adjusted. I just need a good bit of space and alone time and have no desire to have friends. But, like everyone, I need someone.

I ended a ~4 year relationship about 3 months ago. Went on my first date about 2 weeks later. They are an absolutely amazing person, and things are moving forward. I was very open and honest with my new person, that I’m just coming out of something, that I need to move very slowly, that I may need their shoulder for a few weeks while I heal and move forward. That I need more of a friend than a lover for a while. And they have been just absolutely wonderful. We are trying to move slowly, but we’re both falling fast. The ~4 year relationship started out long distance for quite a long time. And there’s a LOT that you don’t learn about a person when it’s only constant texts and two weekends a month in person.
