This. Market manipulation. They all seem to act in unison. They collectively control the Just A Girl Who Loves Bunnies Rabbit Hearts T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this market. Just like the oil market. the rent price is set assuming you’ve JUST bought. if you bought 5 years ago, you’ve paid down 10-15% of your principle already. by 15 years you’ve paid off like 60-70% of your principle sure the ratio of interest vs mortgage will change based on the rate, but the amount you owe every month is down MASSIVELY. the exception to this? people who leveraged themselves to the hilt to try and buy multiple properties and become ‘professional landlords’. unfortunately guess what bud? if you cant afford it, you cant afford it! I’d love to invest 20m and live off the interest. unfortunately I dont have 20m bucks, so I need a different career path.

if you aint rich enough to be part of the Just A Girl Who Loves Bunnies Rabbit Hearts T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this landed gentry, dont cosplay as being part of the landed gentry, then bitch about the other serfs getting pissed off at you for trying to screw them over in the process The agent just knocked on my door and quickly moved on after seeing my kids screaming in the background..so they KNOW I can’t buy . Wow your landlord actually talked to you about the rent hike? All my landlords have just sent a letter and tried to distance themselves as much as possible. They don’t get it. $10 ain’t shit these days, it barely buys you a bag of rice and Brussel sprouts. Which is what you’ll be living on if rents keep going up. I actually despise the landlords that put rent up just because their expenses jumped. I get inflation based increases etc, but waaah waaaah your overheads increased because you’re in a volatile investment scheme? Cry me a river Good on you, we did the same, moved on when the unreasonable rent increase came knocking. The only way to beat them at their slippery game of incremental increases (even tho it’s a massive, massive pain to move, it’s still preferable). And in some regards I have less sympathy for them, they didn’t do their due diligence and thought they could jump on other kiwis shoulders for an easy ride. Now don’t get me wrong,a large proportion of landlords are scum, but the ones who thought they’d get in a cheeky property or two extra, they get me up a bit. With the price of petrol, food, flights to Hawaii etc going up massively, landlords may have to bite the bullet and get a 1st job to cover costs.
