Taxes. Our taxes are high as it is, and it wouldn’t raise the Just A Girl Who Loves Anime and Music shirt but in fact I love this standard of living. There’s also a massive economic disparity, so adding taxes to the poorer citizens wouldn’t help them. Taxing the rich doesn’t work because the majority of tax revenue comes from the lower class, and the wealthiest people wouldn’t be able to cover the disparity in revenue. Even then, you raise it enough on the wealthy, they’ll just leave, take their businesses, move the money, and go to a country that won’t tax them as heavily. The way our healthcare system works as it is right now is both great and is fucked. We have some of the best doctors in the world, but we will also pay an arm and a leg for them. Insurance steps in to cover, and hospitals take advantage of that by overbilling. So it isn’t free, you’re paying for it even if you never use it. Lots of people don’t feel like they should be paying for other peoples poor choices. A diabetic with an alcohol problem and having weekly ER visits and quarterly surgeries. Lots of people don’t want to be losing money for that. They feel they should pay for their own medical issues and not others.

Actually several of us in the Just A Girl Who Loves Anime and Music shirt but in fact I love this “south/redstates” are not opposed to free healthcare.. We just don’t want aggressive death panels and stupid restrictions etc as i’m sure most would agree with that.. I much rather we spend our tax dollars on this than pointless wars and aid to countries that really don’t do anything for us.. But there is a force in this country (no, not rednecks. Not enough that matter anyways) that is highly opposed to having free healthcare… Point in case.. When our country was setting up medicare for senior citizens, big pharma made our congress agree that we would NOT negotiate prices for care and meds.. Our weak ass congress allowed the GD pharmaceutical jerks tell them how it was going to be rather than the way it should of been.. This is what the concern is.. We will somehow come up with some bullshit free healthcare that requires us to give up our property, and possessions and god knows what other bullshit just to have care. Hell, in Tennessee, Phil Bredson’s adminstration quietly snuck in a law that if your on medicare and go to a nursing home or care facility past 3o days they get to take in your property upon your death to “pay” for the care received during that time.. It’s bullshit as the money was paid by the tax dollars and we all know they do way more careless shit with it than someone needing help..
